2-Piece Kayak Paddle (220/230 cm, Ø25 mm or Ø29 mm Shaft)

Code:
04485-1OR

A high-quality two-piece kayak paddle available in two shaft diameters – Ø25 mm (lighter) and Ø29 mm (sturdier) – as well as two lengths: 220 cm or 230 cm. The paddle separates into two halves for convenient transport and storage. Equipped with two reinforced plastic blades (offered in different colors – black, blue, orange) that can be set at different angles (feathered) for more efficient paddling. Ideal for recreational kayaking, inflatable kayaks, and touring.

  • Choice of length: 220 cm standard or 230 cm extended – choose based on your height and kayak width
  • Two shaft diameters: Ø25 mm for smaller hands/lighter feel; Ø29 mm for greater rigidity and power in strokes
  • 2-piece design: Easily comes apart for portability – fits in a car trunk or kayak bag
  • Adjustable blade angle: Option to feather the blades (left/right offset) to reduce wind resistance while paddling
  • Durable materials: Aluminum or fiberglass shaft + reinforced PVC/nylon blades – impact-resistant and UV-stable for long-lasting use

These two-piece kayak paddles combine portability with excellent on-water performance. There are two models indicated by different codes, primarily distinguished by shaft diameter and blade characteristics: the Ø25 mm version is slightly lighter and thinner, suitable for beginners, youth, or paddlers who prefer a bit more flex and a lighter swing weight. The Ø29 mm version has a thicker shaft – it feels stiffer and more robust, favored by experienced paddlers or those going on longer trips where durability is crucial. Both models offer a choice of 220 cm or 230 cm length. The longer paddle (230 cm) is often chosen by taller kayakers or for wider kayaks (such as inflatables or tandem kayaks) to achieve a proper stroke angle and reach.

The ability to break the paddle into two pieces is extremely convenient: each piece is just over a meter long, making transport a breeze – you can put the paddle halves in a bag, in your car trunk, or even inside the kayak during travel. Assembly is done via a strong connector (ferrule) with a spring-loaded button – just insert the two ends together, press the button, and it clicks into place, also allowing you to choose the blade angle (typically 0° or 60° offset from each other). Feathering (angling the blades relative to each other) is a valuable feature when paddling in wind – it reduces wind resistance on the raised blade.

The blades of the paddles are made of reinforced plastic – they have an optimized shape for touring (moderate size, slight curve) that ensures efficient strokes without excessive strain on the arms. The materials are impact-resistant (e.g., in case you hit a rock or the bottom accidentally) and UV-resistant, so they won’t crack or become brittle after a season in the sun. The aluminum shaft is anodized (or coated) to prevent corrosion in fresh or salt water. Some variants might feature fiberglass shafts for even lighter weight and a warmer feel in cold weather.

Usage & Recommendations:

  • Choosing a variant: If you have a smaller build or are just starting out, the Ø25 mm, 220 cm paddle might be more comfortable and plenty sufficient. If you’re taller or your kayak is wide/tandem, the Ø29 mm, 230 cm option can give you better reach and power
  • Feather adjustment: Experiment with the feather setting – many paddlers prefer about a 60° offset between blades for an optimal balance of comfort and efficiency; the ferrule on this paddle makes it easy to set your preferred angle
  • Safety: The paddles will float, but still, in case of a capsize keep an eye on them – the bright blade colors (if you chose blue or orange) will help you spot them quickly in the water
  • Transport: Always take the paddle apart before transporting your kayak – this avoids risk of breakage from wind or mishandling. You can store the two halves in a dedicated paddle bag or wrapped in cloth/neoprene to prevent scratching other gear
  • Maintenance: After paddling in saltwater, separate the two halves and rinse them off. Check the spring button/ferrule for any sand or salt – clean it to ensure smooth operation next time. Keep the joints (if any O-rings or rubber parts) lightly greased to prevent sticking
