Twisted D Shackle 90°, AISI 316 Stainless Steel

The Twisted D Shackle is a specialized 90-degree shackle that brings added flexibility to your rigging setup. Forged from high-grade AISI 316 stainless steel, it offers excellent strength and corrosion resistance, making it suitable for all marine conditions. Unlike a standard shackle, the loop (D-shaped body) and the pin of this shackle are oriented at a right angle. This design is extremely useful when you need to connect two fittings that are perpendicular to each other – for example, attaching a halyard block to a deck pad-eye or connecting an anchor to a chain where space is limited. The twisted shackle maintains a straight line pull on both attachment points, eliminating unwanted twists in your rope or chain and ensuring optimal alignment.

With its smooth screw pin, the twisted shackle is easy to secure and won’t loosen under vibration. The pin features a slotted head for tightening with a tool or by hand, and can be additionally secured with wire if required for safety. The entire shackle is polished to a mirror finish, which not only looks great on your boat but also prevents abrasion to ropes.

Available Sizes & Uses:

• 5 mm Twist Shackle: Working load ~0.10 ton. Great for small sailboats and dinghies. Use it to attach control lines or small blocks in tight spaces. For example, on a 3–5 m boat, a 5 mm twisted shackle can connect a jib sheet block to an eye strap on the mast, aligning the block correctly without rope twist.
• 6 mm Twist Shackle: Working load ~0.15 ton. Ideal for boats around 5–6 m. Commonly used for slightly larger hardware connections, such as securing a pulley or fairlead to a boat’s rail or hull where a normal shackle would cause a twist. Provides a neat solution for motorboat canopy straps or attaching a chain to an anchor on small craft.
• 8 mm Twist Shackle: Working load ~0.20 ton. Recommended for mid-sized vessels (6–9 m). Excellent for sailboats where shrouds, blocks, or sails need a 90° linkage. For instance, use an 8 mm twisted shackle to connect a mainsheet block to a boom bail so that the block always aligns with the pulling direction. It’s also useful for anchoring systems: connecting an 8 mm chain to an anchor that has a 90° oriented shackle eye.
• 10 mm Twist Shackle: Working load ~0.50 ton. Suited for larger yachts and heavy-duty use (9–12 m boats). This size handles high loads, making it perfect for primary rigging points. Use a 10 mm twisted shackle to join heavy blocks or anchor tackle on a cruising yacht – for example, attaching a genoa sheet block to a toe rail or a heavy anchor to its chain. The 90° twist ensures the anchor hangs correctly from the bow roller and the chain runs freely without binding.

Each twisted shackle size is engineered to distribute forces evenly across the shackle body and pin, even when the pulling direction is perpendicular. This results in less wear on connected components and increased safety.
