“Rock” Manual Winches with Auto-Brake (Self-Locking) – up to 1135 kg

Code:
02.130.02

Professional-grade Rock hand winches with an automatic self-locking mechanism (“auto-brake”) for safe hauling of boats and loads. Thanks to the load-activated self-braking, these winches won’t allow the line to slip back, making operation calmer and safer, especially on an incline. Their rugged steel construction is zinc-chromate plated and epoxy-coated to resist rust.

  • Auto-lock system: Self-locking mechanism engages with ≥25 kg load – prevents unwinding and holds the load steady
  • No exposed gears: Fully enclosed mechanism with safety cover – protects the user and internals from injury and dirt
  • Durable build: Steel body with zinc-chromate plating + epoxy paint – corrosion-resistant, built for marine use
  • Strap or cable variants: Models come with a high-strength polyester strap (6 m) or steel cable (10 m) + hook, depending on capacity
  • Compact & easy to install: Small footprint and standard bolt pattern – perfect for mounting on boat trailers and lifting platforms

Rock winches with automatic brake (self-locking) represent a new generation of manual winches focused on safety and convenience. Their self-locking mechanism automatically holds the drum in place as soon as there is a minimum load (~25 kg) on the strap or cable. This means that when pulling a boat up a ramp, the winch will not allow the boat to slide back down even if you stop cranking – a huge benefit for the safety of you and your equipment. At the same time, when there’s no load, the mechanism disengages, allowing you to pull out or wind in the line easily without resistance. The construction of the Rock winches features no exposed gears – all gearing is enclosed within the housing, which is fitted with a protective cover. This not only gives a cleaner appearance, but also prevents accidents (no open parts to catch clothing or fingers) and shields the mechanism from mud, sand, and salt. Materials are chosen for longevity: the steel components are zinc-chromate galvanized and further coated with a tough epoxy paint – dual protection against rust when used outdoors, including in saltwater environments. Each model comes with an appropriate towing line: the smaller models are equipped with a flat polyester strap (which is gentle on a boat’s hull), while the larger ones include a steel cable to handle the higher loads. All come with a forged steel hook with safety latch to attach securely to your boat.

Variants (capacity) and intended use:

  • Rock 680 kg: The smallest model (max pull 680 kg, gear ratio 5.1:1) – lightweight winch with a 6 m strap. Recommended for very small boats up to ~3–4 m (10–14 ft), such as inflatables, dinghies, or jet skis. It’s ideal for light-duty trailers where safety in pulling is paramount but the loads are not extremely heavy.
  • Rock 900 kg: The mid-range model (max pull ~900 kg, gear ratio ~8.8:1) – supplied with a 10 m steel cable (6 mm thick). Suitable for boats ~4–5 m (13–16 ft) in length, like small motorboats, fishing vessels, or heavier RIBs. It offers more pulling power while still being compact, making it an excellent choice for versatile use.
  • Rock 1135 kg: The largest model in this range (max pull 1135 kg, gear ratio 11.1:1) – with a 10 m steel cable (6 mm). Recommended for boats around 5.5–6 m (18–20 ft) or approximately 1+ ton in weight. It’s perfect for bigger trailers carrying medium-sized boats where maximum manual pulling force is needed. The auto-brake function is especially valuable when launching heavier boats down steep ramps.

With Rock winches, you have full control and peace of mind during manual cranking. They are useful not only for boats but also for various scenarios – from lifting equipment to securing loads on platforms. Thanks to the automatic brake, these winches are even favored in off-road settings for recovering ATVs/jeeps, because they eliminate the risk of “free spooling” a load if the handle slips. During use, it’s advised to periodically clean the mechanism of sand and salt and to occasionally lubricate the gears through service openings, in order to maintain the smooth operation of the self-locking system.
