Flat PVC Foldable Boat Fenders – 61 cm and 87 cm (Flexible Cushion Fenders)

Code:
33.515.01

A set of flat PVC boat fenders in two sizes that offer reliable hull protection and convenient storage. Their soft foam core with a tough PVC outer skin won’t roll on your boat’s side and covers a wide area, preventing damage when alongside a dock or another vessel. Key features:

  • Construction: Made of closed-cell soft PVC foam with an external layer of coated, heat-welded PVC fabric – highly impact-resistant and durable
  • Foldable Design: Low-profile flexible pads can be folded or bent, making it easy to stow these fenders even in tight onboard storage spaces
  • Available Sizes: Small model – 61 x 16.5 cm (6.4 cm thick); Large model – 87 x 16.5 cm (10 cm thick). Choose the size based on your boat dimensions and needs
  • Usage: Lie flat against the hull without rolling or slipping. Suitable for hanging vertically or horizontally, perfect for tight docking spaces and canal locks
  • Advantages: Lightweight and easy to handle (~0.3–0.5 kg each), gentle on gelcoat and paint. Ideal for small boats with limited storage, or as additional auxiliary fenders for larger vessels

Flat, foldable PVC fenders offer an innovative solution for hull protection while saving valuable storage space on board. Each fender is constructed with a soft expanded PVC foam core that does not absorb water, encased in a tough PVC fabric cover with welded seams. This design provides excellent impact resistance and weather durability, yet the fenders remain flexible. The flat profile lies snug against your boat’s hull without rolling, meaning it covers a larger contact area and stays in position even with slight boat movement – a crucial advantage in tight moorings or locks.

One of the key benefits of these fenders is their foldability. The foldable design allows you to bend or fold the fender when not in use so that it takes up minimal space. This is especially useful for smaller boats, fishing vessels, or RIBs where storage is at a premium – no more struggling to stow bulky cylindrical fenders. In use, the flat cushions are wide enough to shield your hull; when folded, they can be easily tucked into a locker, under a seat, or in a storage bag.

Two sizes are available (both in a neutral white color) to suit different needs:

  • 61 cm x 16.5 cm x 6.4 cm: The compact model is recommended for small craft (approximately 3–5 m in length) or as an auxiliary fender for larger yachts. Its slimmer profile (6.4 cm thick) provides a buffer for light to moderate impacts. It’s extremely easy to handle and stow – virtually weightless – and can even double as a knee pad or seat cushion on deck when needed.
  • 87 cm x 16.5 cm x 10 cm: The larger model is about 40% longer and significantly thicker (10 cm), making it suitable for bigger boats (5–8 m or above). It covers more of the hull side and can withstand harder knocks during docking. Use this size as a primary fender for mid-sized vessels or as an additional flat buffer for large yachts when rafting up side by side.

Both fender sizes can be deployed vertically, hanging from a rail or cleat, or horizontally – for instance, wedged between two boats during rafting. Flat fenders won’t rotate or slide out of place, and they won’t mar your vessel’s finish. They are an excellent choice for cruising in inland waterways and canals where space is tight and traditional fenders tend to shift around. With these foldable PVC cushions, your boat stays protected and you stay worry-free, all without sacrificing storage space on board.

Usage and recommendations:

  • The smaller flat fender (61 cm) is perfect for speedboats, fishing boats, and inflatables where standard fenders would be overkill. It also works great as a helper fender on larger yachts – for example, to guard the bow or stern quarters, or when docking in shallow areas.
  • The larger flat fender (87 cm) provides more substantial protection and is recommended as a primary fender for medium-sized boats and cabin cruisers. It’s also superb when mooring two boats together (rafting) – its flat shape won’t roll and will remain securely between the hulls.
  • Both types prove especially useful when transiting locks or narrow channels: you can position them vertically along the hull, where their broad, flat surface protects a large area from rubbing against rough lock walls.
  • When not in use, simply fold or roll up these fenders and stow them in your gear bag or storage locker – they take up minimal room and are lightweight enough that even junior crew members can deploy and pack them away with ease.
