The Mercury F90 is a legendary model in Mercury’s lineup, delivering 90HP from a compact and lightweight 2.1-liter 4-cylinder engine. It is designed to offer maximum versatility – powerful enough for sport and heavy-duty tasks, yet light enough for smaller boats. With 2064cc displacement, the Mercury F90 outclasses competitors with smaller engines, providing up to 20% more torque at low RPM. This means quicker planing, especially on loaded boats. The EFI system and advanced ECM (engine control module) keep the motor optimally tuned, even across varying altitudes and temperatures. The Mercury F90 is compatible with Mercury Active Trim – an automatic trim system that further eases operation – and with SmartCraft gauges for full monitoring. Its weight (~165 kg for the long shaft model) is often less than equivalent 90HP engines from other brands, improving overall boat performance and reducing draft. A robust gearcase and optional Command Thrust give flexibility – the standard configuration is ideal for most recreational craft, while the CT version is great for pontoon and work boats that need extra thrust.
