This telescopic boat cover support pole is an indispensable accessory for properly maintaining your boat while it’s covered.
Primary function: to prop up the center of your cover, creating a slope that prevents rainwater, snow, or debris from forming puddles and heavy sagging on the fabric. It’s made from anodized aluminum – a material that won’t corrode and remains strong even in a marine environment. The construction is two-piece/telescoping, allowing smooth height adjustment depending on your boat’s height and the needed cover angle. The 60–100 cm model is ideal for smaller boats, low biminis, or inflatable boat covers, while the 90–150 cm model provides a greater range for larger boats, cruisers, and sailboat covers.
Design: A wide, round base at the bottom of the pole ensures stability – it’s made of a non-slip material (PVC or rubber) to protect your boat’s flooring and prevent sliding due to movement or wind. The top end of the pole features a plastic/rubber cap or cup that rests against the underside of your cover without puncturing or damaging it. This cap distributes pressure so there’s no single stress point on the fabric.
How to use: Position the support pole roughly at the center of your boat (or under the lowest point of the cover). Extend it to the needed height so that the cover stretches and creates slopes towards the sides of the boat. Then lock the telescoping sections (either by twisting or via a locking pin, depending on model) to secure the height. You can use more than one pole if necessary – for example, longer boats benefit from two or more poles placed along the length.
Benefits: Using a support pole greatly extends the life of your cover, as it eliminates sagging and concentrated loads from water or snow. It also maintains airflow under the cover, which reduces the chance of condensation. When not in use, the pole collapses to a compact size for easy storage.
