This 19mm plastic tent clip is a handy accessory for quick attaching of canvas to tubular structures on your boat. A common use is with bimini tops, spray dodgers, or console covers that need to be fastened to stainless/aluminum frames without installing permanent snaps. The clip is designed as a two-part clamp: it has an inner circular channel sized for a standard 19mm (3/4") tube, and the “jaws” of the clip snap together (with a bit of pressure) around the tube, gripping it firmly. On the outside of the clip, a male snap stud is integrated – essentially the same kind of stud you’d get if you screwed in a metal snap, but here it’s molded as part of the plastic body. Its diameter and shape are compatible with standard Ø15mm female canvas snaps.
Installation & Use: To use the clip, simply flex it open slightly and press it onto the tube at the desired position – it will snap in place thanks to its shape and flexibility, with no risk of scratching the tube. Then align your canvas/cover so that the female snap on the fabric lines up over the stud on the clip, and snap it on (push until it clicks). You get a secure connection that holds the fabric taut and in place. You can attach several of these clips along the frame to fasten the entire edge of a cover. The advantage is that there’s no need to drill into your frame or install permanent fittings – the clips can be repositioned, removed, or added anytime.
The clips are strong enough to stay put even in stiff wind, but under excessive load (for example, someone pulling hard on the canvas) they will release in a controlled way without breaking – this protects both the frame and the canvas from tearing. The material is chosen to withstand outdoor conditions: it’s UV stabilized, so prolonged sun exposure won’t make it brittle, and it’s chemically resistant to saltwater and common pollutants.
Options & Examples: We offer the clip in black or white color. The white version is great for white frames or light-colored canvas – it almost disappears, whereas the black is preferred for black/dark frames or to match black hardware on chrome tubing. Typical applications include: attaching removable spray shields or side curtains to a bimini frame, securing a console cover to a rail, holding protective side skirts of RIB boats against the tubes, or even keeping a rolled-up cover stowed by snapping it to the frame so it doesn’t flap. When not needed, the clips can be simply unsnapped by hand from the tube – moving them leaves no marks or damage. This makes them reusable and very practical for temporary covers or frequently installed/removed canvas panels.
