StingRay XRIII is a high-performance hydrofoil stabilizer designed to get your boat on plane faster than ever. With its unique no-drill installation design, the XRIII attaches easily to your engine’s cavitation plate using the factory torque tab or sacrificial anode – no need to drill any holes in your outboard. This not only makes installation simple (about 5 minutes with a basic wrench and screwdriver) but also keeps your engine’s warranty intact.
The XRIII delivers the greatest lift of any hydrofoil on the market. In practical terms, this means your boat can plane up to 50% quicker than without a hydrofoil. During acceleration, the bow of your boat won’t ride as high – the XRIII “presses” the bow down by packing water tightly around the cavitation plate. The result is faster planing and the ability to stay on plane at lower speeds. For example, if previously your boat fell off plane below 25 knots, with the StingRay XRIII it might hold plane at around 18-20 knots. This is a huge advantage in choppy conditions and when towing water toys.
Stability is also dramatically improved. The XRIII’s distinctive curved wings counteract side-to-side wobble (chine-walking) and eliminate annoying bow bounce (porpoising) at high speeds. Your boat will ride flatter and more predictably in the water, even during sharp turns – especially helpful for pontoon boats and catamarans which can lose stability in turns. Additionally, the hydrofoil reduces cavitation and ventilation: your propeller stays hooked in the water, meaning better traction and less “blow-out” (engine over-revving due to air).
Fuel efficiency is another major plus – since the boat planes easier and at lower RPM, the engine works less and saves fuel (up to 30% per manufacturer data in certain regimes). When cruising more slowly on plane, the bow stays lower, which improves the driver’s forward visibility and overall safety (there’s less of a “blind spot” in front of the boat). This is especially important when carrying passengers or maneuvering through marinas.
The StingRay XRIII comes in two sizes: Junior and Senior. The Junior model is optimized for smaller engines (25 HP to 75 HP) and is perfect for boats roughly 3–5 m (10–16 ft) in length. The Senior model is intended for more powerful motors (40 HP up to 300 HP) and covers medium and larger boats (around 5–7+ m or 16–24+ ft length). These two options ensure that whether you have a small jon boat with a 30 HP engine or an offshore rig with a 250 HP outboard, there’s an XRIII that fits your needs. Color options (black, white, gray) allow you to match the hydrofoil to your boat and engine’s look.
Constructed from durable molded material with integrated graphics, the XRIII also features a special Speed XP™ coating that reduces drag by bonding a thin layer of water to the hydrofoil’s surface. This further improves speed and smoothness – contributing to higher top-end velocity and a steadier ride. With a StingRay XRIII installed, you’ll experience not only better acceleration and efficiency but also more confident boat handling. Importantly, all these benefits are achieved without any permanent modification to your engine.
- Recommended Use: The StingRay XRIII is highly recommended if your boat struggles to plane with a full load or if the bow rises excessively during acceleration. It’s great for fishing boats that often carry a lot of gear, family boats pulling tubes/skiers, and any situation where you want faster acceleration and lower fuel burn.
- Junior vs Senior: The Junior model is ideal for small boats (inflatable RIBs, aluminum skiffs, jon boats) with 25-50-60 HP motors that need a boost in performance. The Senior model is the right choice for more powerful setups – for example, a bowrider with a 150 HP outboard will plane sooner and remain stable at high speeds with an XRIII Senior.
- Easy Installation: The mounting requires only basic tools. The XRIII kit includes a vice-lock 3-point clamp system that secures the hydrofoil tightly to the cavitation plate. After installation, there’s no maintenance needed – just set it and forget it, while you enjoy your boat’s improved performance on the water.
