Set of stainless steel end caps for finishing boat rub rail profiles of approximately 40 mm or 50 mm in height. These high-grade polished stainless caps provide a luxurious finish to your rub rail and offer superior durability compared to plastic end pieces. The set includes two caps (port and starboard) to fully equip both ends of your boat’s rub rail. Key features:

  • Models/Sizes: Two versions – small cap (60 x 47 x 19 mm) fits ~40 mm profiles; large cap (73 x 57 x 25 mm) fits ~50 mm profiles
  • Material: Marine 316 stainless steel with mirror polish – resists corrosion, UV, and impact
  • Contents: Each set includes 2 caps (typically one left and one right) for symmetrical installation on both sides of the boat’s transom

This stainless steel end cap set is a premium solution for finishing your boat’s rub rail, offering both functionality and style. Crafted from high-grade 316 stainless steel, the caps are polished to a mirror finish that complements other stainless hardware (rails, cleats, fittings) on your boat. Unlike standard plastic end pieces, these steel caps won’t degrade under UV light, won’t crack upon impact, and will retain their shine for years.

Two sizes in one set cover different profile needs:

  • Cap for ~40 mm profile: Measures about 60 x 47 x 19 mm – this smaller cap is intended for narrower rub rails (~40 mm height). Perfect for smaller boats or rub rail profiles used on gunwales of vessels up to around 5–6 m (16–20 ft).
  • Cap for ~50 mm profile: Measures about 73 x 57 x 25 mm – the larger cap fits rub rails roughly 50 mm tall, commonly found on powerboats and RIBs in the 7–10 m (23–33 ft) range.

Installation requires basic tools: each cap has pre-drilled countersink holes. Fit the cap over the end of the rubber rail, mark the hole positions on the rail’s track or base, and drill small pilot holes. Apply a thin bead of marine sealant under the cap for added water protection, then secure it with stainless steel countersunk screws or pop rivets. Once tightened, wipe away any excess sealant – the result is a sleek metal end detail that flows smoothly with the rub rail’s line.

Advantages of stainless end caps: beyond virtually eliminating any risk of breakage or aging, they enhance the boat’s appearance. The polished INOX surface catches the light and gives a professional finish – a detail appreciated at boat shows or simply for an owner’s pride.

Applications and recommendations:

  • For medium to large boats: Especially useful for vessels subject to heavy use – stainless caps remain firm and intact even with frequent bumps against docks or contact with other boats
  • Compatibility: Can be used with both one-piece rubber rails and two-part rail systems (with plastic or aluminum insert) – just ensure the profile height (~40 or ~50 mm) matches the chosen cap size
  • Decorative touch: On classic or vintage boats, these caps add a touch of elegance. On modern RIBs and fishing boats, they provide extra toughness and reliability under harsh conditions
  • Corrosion resistance: 316 stainless ensures excellent rust resistance even with continuous saltwater exposure – no need for frequent replacements; simply rinse with fresh water periodically to wash off salt and maintain shine
  • Tip: Periodically check the screws for tightness (especially during the first season after installation) – engine vibrations can slightly loosen hardware. If needed, apply a drop of thread-locker during installation to keep screws secure
