Yamalube TCW3-R 2-Stroke Oil – High-Performance Protection for Outboard Engines

Code:
04106-1

Yamalube TCW3-R is a premium 2-stroke outboard oil, tested and approved by Yamaha Motor. This oil delivers a combination of exceptional wear protection and corrosion resistance, ensuring maximum power and reliability from your engine. Featuring Extreme Pressure anti-wear additives, Yamalube TCW3-R maintains a stable oil film under high loads, safeguarding the engine even in demanding conditions. It boasts resistance to thermal breakdown and water washout, making it ideal for use in both saltwater and freshwater.

  • High-performance Yamaha oil – designed for peak performance of 2-stroke outboards, approved by Yamaha racing teams
  • EP (Extreme Pressure) protection – retains lubrication under extreme pressures, preventing piston and bearing wear at high RPM
  • Strong anti-corrosion formula – shields parts from rust in marine environments, even with prolonged saltwater exposure
  • High thermal stability – won’t lose viscosity or effectiveness at high temperatures; maintains oil film during cold starts and hot runs
  • Low maintenance – clean burning with minimal deposits, keeping spark plugs and exhaust systems cleaner for longer, reducing service frequency

Yamalube TCW3-R is a top-tier engine oil for 2-stroke outboard engines, providing optimal protection and performance under all operating conditions. Developed by Yamaha, this oil combines specially selected base components and additives to meet the high demands of powerful two-stroke engines. Its formulation includes lithium-calcium thickening agents for enhanced adhesion and Extreme Pressure additives that establish a durable film on bearing and cylinder surfaces. This ensures that even under extreme loads and high RPM – such as extended wide-open throttle or heavy propeller loads – metal parts remain separated by an oil layer and are protected from direct contact.

Yamalube TCW3-R exhibits exceptional water washout resistance. In marine environments, where condensation or splash water might enter the engine, this oil holds its consistency and does not form emulsions that would degrade its lubricating properties. Additionally, it has strong anti-corrosive characteristics – shielding internal metal components (like the crankshaft, connecting rods, bearings) from the effects of saltwater and acidic combustion byproducts, thereby reducing the risk of rust deposits or corrosive pitting.

Another key benefit of Yamalube TCW3-R is its stability across temperature changes. It remains effective in both low and high temperatures, ensuring easy cranking and smooth running during cold starts, and guarding against overheating during prolonged operation. The oil retains its viscosity across a wide range – it doesn’t become too thick in cold weather nor overly thin when hot, which guarantees consistent lubrication.

Yamalube TCW3-R fully meets and exceeds the requirements of the NMMA TC-W3 standard, meaning it is suitable for all 2-stroke outboard engines recommending this class of oil. While it’s formulated with Yamaha engines in mind (including high-performance V4 and V6 models), it can be successfully used in engines of other brands that demand an oil of such high caliber. Thanks to its clean-burning nature, this oil reduces deposit formation on exhaust ports and piston rings, which keeps engine performance optimal and makes maintenance easier.

Typical use cases:

  • All Yamaha 2-stroke outboard engines – from smaller 15–50 HP models up to powerful V6 200–300 HP – Yamalube TCW3-R provides these engines with maximum protection and performance
  • 2-stroke engines of other manufacturers (Mercury, Suzuki, Tohatsu, Johnson/Evinrude, etc.) that require/recommend a high-quality TC-W3 oil – Yamalube TCW3-R is compatible and can enhance their operation
  • Boats subjected to intensive use – such as commercial fishing vessels, rescue boats, or racing boats with 2-stroke motors – the oil will keep the engine in top form under extreme conditions
  • Personal watercraft (jet skis) with 2-stroke engines requiring TC-W3 – though Yamaha’s modern WaveRunners are 4-stroke, older 2-stroke jet skis and other brands would benefit from TCW3-R
  • Outboard owners who want the best oil for their engines to minimize wear, extend time between overhauls, and ensure a long engine life

Usage Guidelines:

  • Yamalube TCW3-R can be used in both oil injection systems and for premixing. In auto-lube systems, simply keep the oil tank topped up with Yamalube TCW3-R and let the pump meter the oil. In premix systems, mix accurately according to your engine’s recommended ratio (e.g., 50:1). Use a clean measuring container to precisely measure 2% oil to gasoline (for 50:1).
  • If switching from another oil to Yamalube TCW3-R, try to run the previous oil down as much as possible. TC-W3 oils are generally compatible and mixable, but to get the full benefit of Yamalube, it’s ideal to have mostly it in the system.
  • Monitor spark plugs and exhaust ports during regular maintenance – when using Yamalube TCW3-R, you should notice lighter brown, cleaner plugs (instead of heavily oiled/blackened) and less carbon in the ports. This indicates the oil is burning cleanly.
  • Change gearcase oil separately with the appropriate gear lubricant (e.g., Yamalube marine gear oil) – note that Yamalube TCW3-R is for the fuel-oil mix in the engine’s combustion, not for the gearbox. Using a high-quality engine oil like TCW3-R takes care of the engine’s internals; don’t forget the gearcase maintenance as well.
  • Store the oil in a tightly sealed container, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. The oil has a long shelf life, but always use the oldest stock first if you have multiple bottles (first-in, first-out).
  • Follow environmental best practices when disposing of empty containers – rinse them with a bit of fuel (which can be added to your tank) and recycle if possible. Never dump oil or oily containers in the environment.
