Female Bullet Connectors with Heat Shrink Insulation (Red/Blue/Yellow)

Code:
04369-1R

Female cylindrical wire terminals (bullet sockets) with built-in heat shrink insulation for quick and reliable wire connections. These connectors provide quick disconnect capability when needed (plug-and-play connection), and once crimped and heat-sealed, the joint becomes waterproof and pull-resistant – perfect for boat, motorcycle, and automotive installations.

  • Quick Connector: Bullet-style female socket for easy plug/unplug of wires without tools
  • Fully Insulated: Heat-shrink sleeve covers the metal barrel and shrinks to form a watertight seal against water and dirt
  • Color Marked: Red (0.5–1.5 mm²), Blue (1.5–2.5 mm²), Yellow (4–6 mm²) – standard coding for wire size compatibility
  • Safe & Strong: Springy cylindrical design of the female socket grips the male bullet firmly, preventing loosening under vibration
  • Versatile Use: Suitable for marine electrical systems (navigation lights, pumps, etc.), auto/moto wiring, and any projects needing a robust yet easily disconnectable link

These female bullet connectors with heat shrink insulation allow secure joining of two conductors while retaining the option to quickly disconnect the link. The female “bullet” connector is a cylindrical brass socket that snugly receives the corresponding male bullet terminal. After crimping the wire into the socket and heating the red/blue/yellow heat-shrink, the insulation contracts around the joint, creating a waterproof seal. This shields the contact from moisture, salt spray, and corrosion – typical enemies of electrical connections on boats.

The advantage of the bullet system is that it enables rapid separation of a circuit for service or component replacement. For example, if a navigation light or bilge pump needs to be removed, rather than cutting or undoing the entire wiring, the bullet connector lets you simply unplug the connection and later plug it back in. This is extremely handy in tight spaces or when frequent maintenance is required.

Use Cases & Recommendations:

  • Red bullet sockets (R) – For wires 0.5–1.5 mm². Used for thin conductors and low currents. Example: connecting wires to small navigation lights, float switches, or other accessories on small boats and jet skis (3–5 m), where current is low and a compact connection is needed. These are recommended for smaller vessels and motor vehicles (motorcycles, ATVs) for easy removal or swapping of lights and instruments.
  • Blue bullet sockets (BL) – For wires 1.5–2.5 mm². This is the most commonly used size in marine and automotive applications with moderate loads. Suitable for main circuits on mid-sized boats (5–8 m), such as connecting deck lights, sonar/fishfinder units, horns, or instruments that might need to be detached. Blue connectors provide reliable links for currents up to around 15–20A. For instance, on a 6m cabin boat, they can connect a freshwater pump or a cabin fan, allowing quick unplugging for repair.
  • Yellow bullet sockets (Y) – For wires 4–6 mm². Designed for thicker conductors and higher currents, these connectors are found in larger boats (8+ m) and systems with more substantial loads. For example, they can be used in the electrical setup of spotlights, powering audio amplifiers, or other devices you want to be able to disconnect swiftly. Yellow sockets handle higher currents (30+ A) and grip the male bullet tightly, which is important under the stronger vibrations of bigger engines.
  • Matching Pair: Note that to form a working bullet connection, you need both the female socket and the appropriate male bullet terminal of the same color/size. This ensures an optimal fit. In our catalog (see code 04368), we offer the corresponding male connectors. Always pair red to red, blue to blue, yellow to yellow for a correct and snug connection.
  • When crimping bullet connectors, ensure you use a crimp tool die designed for cylindrical terminals so as not to deform the socket improperly. After crimping, give the wire a gentle tug to confirm it’s firmly held. Then heat the insulation evenly until it visibly shrinks and grips tightly. A properly sealed connection will show no exposed metal and may exhibit a slight gloss from the melted adhesive lining of the sleeve.
  • Applications beyond boating: Bullet connectors are also popular in motorcycles, scooters, classic cars – for example, for turn signals, brake lights, audio systems – where compactness and easy replacement are valued. With our heat shrink variants, you gain extra protection for these uses, keeping connections safe from rain, mud, and contaminants.
