This plastic valve connector (also known as a tank hose tail) is designed to make attaching hoses to tanks and faucets quick and reliable. It’s molded from high-strength plastic (polypropylene) that withstands the corrosive effects of water, fuel, and chemicals. Five standard sizes are available, covering the most common thread fittings on tanks and valves: 1/2", 3/4", 1", 1-1/4", and 1-1/2". This means whether you have a small tank outlet with a 1/2" thread or a larger seacock with a 1-1/2" thread, there’s a fitting to match.
Each connector’s barb is tailored to fit the corresponding hose size:
- 1/2" Thread (04411-1): Barb ~Ø13 mm – fits hoses ~12–13 mm (1/2") ID. Use: Small-scale systems – e.g., connecting a freshwater tank outlet hose to a pump; fuel lines on portable tanks; or attaching a drain hose for a sink or baitwell.
- 3/4" Thread (04411-2): Barb ~Ø19 mm – fits hoses ~19 mm (3/4") ID. Use: Medium systems – for instance, linking a deck shower or washdown hose; in fuel setups, it can serve for tank vent hoses or slightly larger fuel feeds.
- 1" Thread (04411-3): Barb ~Ø25 mm – fits hoses ~25 mm (1") ID. Use: Higher flow needs – e.g., connecting a water tank to a high-capacity pump or manifold; also suitable for diesel tanks where a larger fill or feed line is required.
- 1-1/4" Thread (04411-4): Barb ~Ø32 mm – fits hoses ~32 mm (1-1/4") ID. Use: Large flows – for example, hooking up a grey-water or waste tank to a discharge hose; can be used for water tank filler lines as well.
- 1-1/2" Thread (04411-5): Barb ~Ø38 mm – fits hoses ~38 mm (1-1/2") ID. Use: Extra-large flow – ideal for tank filling applications (such as the deck fill hose of a fuel tank or a big water tank inlet) or main discharge lines (a heavy-duty bilge pump hose, toilet/waste system outlet, etc.).
Installation is very straightforward: screw the connector onto the male thread of your valve or tank outlet (hand-tight is usually sufficient; for added seal you can use a gasket or thread tape). Then push your hose over the barb and secure it with a hose clamp. You’ll achieve a secure, leak-free seal even under vibration or pressure. The plastic material won’t corrode and stands up to UV rays, making it suitable for on-deck use and external plumbing as well.
In summary, these plastic valve connectors combine versatility (a wide range of sizes) with convenience (easy DIY installation) and durability (resistance to marine environments). They provide an economical and effective solution for building or repairing any liquid-handling systems on your boat, RV, or even in industrial setups. With them, you can quickly connect any hose to the appropriate outlet with no hassle and no need for special tools.
