The Honda BF5DH delivers 5 HP of power, making it ideal for powering small to medium inflatables and most hard boats up to around 3.3 m (11 ft) in length. This engine is extremely quiet and fuel-efficient, enjoying all the perks of its siblings in the portable range. Throttle control is integrated into the tiller handle for easy speed adjustments on the fly. The BF5DH features start-in-gear prevention, a gear lever with three positions (Forward, Neutral, Reverse), and water cooling, all of which contribute to safety and reliability in operation. An optional 6A/12V alternator can be equipped to charge a battery, adding convenience for longer trips or when running fishfinders, lights, and other electronics. Weighing about 27 kg, the BF5DH is easy to mount and transport, and Honda’s engineering ensures vibrations are kept to a minimum. This means more comfortable long-term running and less operator fatigue. The long-shaft variant (LHNU) allows use on boats with a higher transom, while the short-shaft (SHNU) suits smaller transoms.
