The Finmax Speed Hard single swivel block (standard model without becket) is a multi-purpose solution for your deck hardware. It can be employed anywhere reliable line redirection is needed – whether as a sheet block, a turning block for a halyard, or a component in a sail control system. With its straightforward design (just one sheave with a swivel eye), this block is compact and easy to install virtually anywhere on the boat.
Like others in the series, it is built from high-strength composite plastic, reinforced with glass fiber, giving it excellent resistance to load, impact, and environmental factors. The absence of metal bearings simplifies the construction, yet the precision-engineered bushings ensure smooth sheave rotation even under substantial tension. The swivel attachment allows the block to spin such that it always aligns with the direction of pull – this is critical for minimizing rope chafe and power loss in complex rigging setups.
Two sizes are available:
- Small Finmax block (code 04981): For 3–8 mm ropes, approx. 800 kg max load. Suitable for small and mid-sized craft (around 4-6 m). Applications include spinnaker or jib sheets on sports boats, halyards for lightweight sails, or utility blocks for rerouting lines (e.g., bringing a halyard back to the cockpit). Its small profile and low weight are especially beneficial in racing scenarios where excess weight and friction must be eliminated.
- Large Finmax block (code 04982): For 6–12 mm ropes, approx. 1400 kg max load. Intended for larger yachts (6-9 m). This model can confidently serve as a primary sheet block for a genoa or jib, as a turning block for halyards at the mast base, or as part of barber-hauler setups and other trim systems on bigger boats. Its strength ensures it can handle the load of a fully powered-up genoa in strong winds, while the swivel eye prevents gear from twisting and being side-loaded.
The Finmax Speed Hard single block (standard) offers an optimal mix of strength, lightness, and functionality. Whether you are outfitting a day cruiser or upgrading the rigging on a racing yacht, this block will fit right in. Its versatility means you can reposition and use it for different tasks as needed. By investing in this block, you gain the confidence that you have a professional-grade component that will operate smoothly and safely season after season.
