Sea-Line S05 One Step Heavy Cut & Gloss is a highly effective single-stage polishing compound with strong abrasiveness that dramatically reduces the time needed to restore boat surfaces. It’s specifically formulated for companies and craftsmen dealing with gelcoat finishes and tough industrial topcoats, where traditionally multiple polishing steps would be required. S05 enables you to compound and polish in one go, meaning it can aggressively cut away heavy defects while also leaving the surface with a reasonable shine, all with one product. This makes it ideal for severely damaged and oxidized gelcoats – for example, dull chalky hulls or coarse sanding marks on molds – where a powerful cut is needed.
Sea-Line S05 delivers very high cutting power (cut level approx. 10/10) and can remove scratches from sandpaper even as coarse as P800/P1000 with just a few passes. At the same time, thanks to its carefully engineered abrasive blend, the compound leaves the surface smooth and with an initial gloss – good enough for most practical purposes, especially on white or light-colored gelcoat. This combination of steps eliminates the need for a series of different compounds (heavy, medium, fine) in many repair scenarios, which not only saves time but also minimizes material removal from over-polishing.
S05 One Step Heavy Cut is silicone-free and has a convenient creamy paste texture. It spreads easily, doesn’t dry out too fast, and does not run during use – meaning you can polish vertical hull sides without the compound slinging off or dripping down. The product is optimized for rotary polishers with firm pads, which bring out its full abrasive potential. Users also find that the compound doesn’t clog pads quickly (since it contains no wax), allowing longer polishing cycles before cleaning the pad is needed.
- Recommended Uses: Sea-Line S05 is particularly suited for fast restoration of large, heavily damaged surfaces – for example, matte, oxidized yacht hulls, very scratched gelcoat panels, or gelcoat mold surfaces where you need to remove a thin layer and achieve a decent shine in a short time. In manufacturing, the compound allows you to shorten the process – going from sanding straight to gloss with one product, which boosts productivity. For personal use, S05 is useful when reviving older boats where the owner wants quick results without going through 3–4 different polishes. Note that on very dark or black surfaces, you might follow up with a finer polish (like S2) for an absolutely flawless mirror, but S05 will have accomplished 90% of the job already.
- Usage Instructions: Use Sea-Line S05 with a rotary polisher (the high cutting capability is best controlled with variable speed and pressure). Fit a firm pad – preferably wool (for aggressive cut) or a hard foam polishing pad. Apply a moderate amount of compound to the surface or pad. Start polishing at a low RPM (~600–800) with higher pressure to prevent sling, then ramp up to ~1500–1800 RPM and slightly reduce pressure as the compound cuts through defects and begins to clear to a sheen. Move the machine slowly, overlapping passes methodically. Check your results – once the deep scratches are gone and the surface has an even satin/gloss appearance, stop and wipe off the residue with a microfiber cloth. If needed, move on to the next section. Important: Avoid staying over one spot for more than ~2–3 minutes to prevent overheating the gelcoat. After using S05, the surface will have a baseline shine; for maximum gloss and protection, you can then proceed with a finishing polish (e.g., S2) and/or a wax (S4/S5).
