Adeco Adegrip is a high-quality two-part adhesive specially developed for repairing PVC (and polyurethane) inflatable materials. This kit contains a tin of 125 ml adhesive and a 10 ml bottle of hardener (activator) that are mixed immediately before use. The result is a reactive polyurethane glue that cures chemically to form a bond as strong as the original factory attachment of the material.
Applications: Adegrip is perfect for fixing inflatable boats made of PVC – for example, rubber dinghies, RIBs with PVC tubes, inflatable kayaks, banana boats and other towables, as well as inflatable air mattresses and pools. With it, you can glue patches over punctures or worn spots on a tube, repair a delaminated transom strip or floor seam, and even attach accessories like handles, D-rings, valves, etc., to your boat.
How to Use: Mix the adhesive with the hardener in the specified ratio (usually 6–8% hardener relative to glue – the entire 10 ml bottle for the 125 ml glue). Stir thoroughly until uniform. After mixing, you have a limited working time (~3 hours) during which the glue should be used. Prepare the surfaces: they must be clean, dry, and lightly abraded (use sandpaper and degrease with acetone or MEK). Apply a thin, even layer of glue to both surfaces (e.g., the patch and the boat material). Wait about 5–10 minutes for the glue to become touch-dry (tacky). Then press the two parts firmly together. For best results, you can heat activate the glue with a hair dryer just before final bonding. Press firmly for several minutes (using a roller or gloved hand). Full bond strength is achieved after ~24 hours.
Once cured, the bonded area is resistant to bending, stretching, and pressure – the repair will withstand inflating to operating pressure and use in the water. Adegrip is formulated to endure continuous water exposure and UV sunlight without degrading or yellowing. Additionally, if fuel or oil comes in contact with the bonded area (common around engines), the bond remains secure.
- Trusted by Professionals: Adeco Adegrip is an adhesive widely used by inflatable boat manufacturers and repair shops – this ensures that your DIY fix will be of professional quality
- Economical Packaging: 125 ml of glue is sufficient for multiple small repairs or one large patch (up to ~0.3 m² area). Once mixed, unused glue cannot be stored for long, but the separate components have a long shelf life when kept closed
- High Strength: Joints made with Adegrip restore near-original strength of the PVC fabric. Patches hold up under pressure and tension, so you can confidently re-inflate your boat to the recommended PSI
- Flexible Repair: The cured glue remains slightly flexible, not rock-hard – this is crucial because inflatable tubes flex and move under pressure. Adegrip’s bond “moves” with the material and won’t crack
- Safety Guidelines: Work in a well-ventilated area and wear gloves. The activator contains isocyanates and the glue contains solvents; avoid inhaling fumes. After the repair is finished and the glue fully cures, the patched area is non-toxic and safe to touch
