This white flush inspection hatch provides a convenient and secure way to access tanks, storage spaces, or other compartments on your boat while keeping your deck surface smooth and unobstructed. Its design features a fully faired cover and hidden hinges, making the hatch nearly invisible when closed and eliminating trip hazards or snags for lines. The lid opens up to 180°, giving you wide-open access to the area below – no struggling through a narrow opening. Constructed from high-strength BASF plastic, it is UV-resistant and built to withstand harsh marine conditions, so it won’t warp or discolor under heavy sun exposure. The lid’s surface is reinforced with an internal structure, allowing it to support foot traffic (you can safely walk on it when it’s installed on deck). A rubber O-ring seal around the perimeter and a secure latching mechanism ensure that when the hatch is closed, rain and spray stay out of your compartment (suitable for splash-proof horizontal or vertical installation, though not rated for permanent submersion).
Installation is straightforward – cut a hole approximately 310 x 210 mm for the frame. The hatch’s outer flange measures 380 x 280 mm, with a clear opening of 295 x 198 mm. Screw holes are pre-molded in the frame for fastening, and optional quick-mount locking tabs (Osculati kit 20.093.00) can be used for even simpler installation if available. Once screwed in place, self-adhesive caps can be applied to cover the screw heads, giving a clean, finished look.
- Applications: Ideal for inspection access to fuel and water tanks, reaching stowed gear in bow or stern lockers, or as service openings for pumps and valves. Commonly used on sailboat and powerboat decks where a low-profile access hatch is needed.
- Mounting Locations: Can be mounted horizontally (on deck) or vertically (on a transom or interior bulkhead). For example, it’s perfect for accessing a bilge pump in the cockpit floor or serving as a utility access panel in a head/shower compartment.
- Compliance & Ratings: Meets requirements for recreational vessels in design categories A, B, C, D (zones IIa, III, IV per CE norms) – meaning it’s suitable for exposed deck use (not for below-waterline use). It carries a sealing degree of 2, providing ample protection against splashes in typical marine conditions.
- Key Benefits: Delivers a completely flat deck surface you can walk on, which doesn’t accumulate puddles. It simplifies maintenance – you can quickly inspect or service equipment below deck and then close it flush and secure.
- Optional Locking: A locking kit can be added if you desire extra security (sold separately). With a lock installed, the hatch cannot be opened without a key or tool, which is useful for protecting valuables in the compartment.
