Stainless Rope-to-Chain Connector – Heavy-Duty Link between Anchor Rope and Chain

Code:
04410-1

A specialized stainless steel connector for a seamless transition between rope and anchor chain. This heavy-duty link eliminates the need for splicing rope to chain, providing a secure and smooth join that can pass through rollers and windlasses:

  • Material: Polished AISI 316 stainless steel – marine-grade corrosion resistance and high load capacity
  • Secure Connection: Engineered design firmly locks the rope (via knot or wedge mechanism) and attaches to the last chain link without weak points
  • Sizes: Two options – fits 6 mm chain + 8–10 mm rope; or 8 mm chain + 10–12 mm rope (choose based on your anchor setup)
  • Smooth Profile: Compact shape allows it to travel through bow rollers and even windlass gypsies (compatible with most DIN766 chains)
  • Use Case: Ideal for creating an anchor rope & chain rode without splicing – simplifies installation/removal and rope replacement when needed

This stainless rope-chain connector is designed to be the critical strong link between the flexibility of rope and the strength of chain in your anchoring system. In traditional setups, the rope is spliced directly to the chain – a procedure that requires skill and makes quick rope changes difficult. With our connector, that’s no longer necessary – it allows you to join an anchor rope to a chain without a splice, while ensuring the connection is just as strong and secure as the rest of your gear.

Construction & Design: Made entirely of high-grade stainless steel (AISI 316), this connector withstands continuous saltwater immersion and heavy strain. The polished finish eliminates sharp edges or burrs that could chafe your line. Its two ends are functionally shaped – one side attaches to the last link of your chain (via a pin or bolt integrated in the design), and the other features a special opening/chamber for the rope. Depending on the model, the rope is secured either by tying a knot and seating it inside, or by a clamping screw/wedge that locks the rope in place. In both cases, the installation is straightforward and can be done in the field with basic tools.

We offer two sizes of this connector to cover the most common anchor rode configurations:

  • Small Connector (04410-1) – Designed for anchor chain with 6 mm link size (standard for smaller boats) and for ropes around 8 to 10 mm diameter. This size is ideal for typical small to medium boats (approximately 5–8 m in length) that use a combination of 6 mm chain and ~10 mm anchor rope. The connector fits snugly and securely – once installed, you can trust that your anchor, chain, and rope act as one unit.
  • Large Connector (04410-2) – Sized for 8 mm chain (commonly found on mid-sized yachts) and for ropes ~10 to 12 mm in diameter. It’s suited for boats in the ~8–10+ m range, where the ground tackle is more robust. With this connector, you can firmly join 8 mm chain to an appropriate nylon or polyester rope of about 12 mm, creating a powerful anchor rode without the need for a traditional splice.

Advantages in use: One of the major benefits of this connector is its smooth profile, which allows it to pass through bow rollers or hawse pipes without snagging. You can retrieve your anchor line with attached chain over a windlass gypsy – the connector is designed to be compatible with most windlass wheels and chains (following DIN766 or similar standards). This means when you are hauling anchor with an electric or manual windlass, the rope-chain connection won’t jam or skip; it will feed smoothly over the windlass like a regular chain link.

Beyond anchoring, this link is useful in other scenarios – for example, connecting a mooring line to a chain section for permanent moorings, or creating towing bridles where rope and chain must be combined (such as in a heavy tow or specialized lifting sling). Whenever you need to join a rope and chain quickly, securely, and in a removable way, this product provides the solution.

Installation & Maintenance: Attaching the connector requires only basic tools (e.g., an Allen key or wrench if there’s a locking screw). Make sure the rope is firmly secured – tie the recommended knot (typically a figure-eight) or follow the wedge locking instructions, and tighten everything properly. After the first few uses under load, inspect the connection (pins or screws) and re-tighten if necessary. Thanks to its stainless material, the link won’t rust, but it’s good practice to occasionally rinse off salt and grit for smooth operation. If you ever decide to change the rope – simply disassemble the connector, insert the new rope, and secure it again, without having to cut or splice anything.

With this stainless connector, you’re getting a professional solution used by many boat builders and seasoned sailors to ensure their anchor rode is both reliable and convenient to handle. It gives you peace of mind while anchoring: the join between rope and chain will not be a weak point – on the contrary, it’s strong and trustworthy – and it also provides the flexibility to quickly disassemble or replace parts of your rode if needed.
