This product line covers virtually every possible size of fuel tank – from a mere 40 L up to an impressive 767 L, allowing you to select exactly the tank that fits your vessel, whether it’s a small motorboat or a large yacht. Each tank is made of high-quality cross-linked polyethylene, which will not corrode, does not react with gasoline or diesel, and withstands mechanical stresses (impacts, vibrations) in the marine environment. RINA and CE approvals to ISO 21487 confirm that the tanks are designed and built according to international safety norms – they are leak-proof, structurally sound, and fire-safe under proper use.
What’s remarkable about this series is the inclusion of factory-installed level gauges. Every tank comes from the factory with an integrated electric float sender (VDO standard, 10-180 Ω), calibrated and tested for that specific volume. This means that when connected to a suitable display (analog gauge or digital monitor) at your helm, you immediately get information about the fuel quantity – no need to install a sender later yourself. This feature is especially valuable for the larger tanks (e.g., 300+ liters), as it simplifies managing your substantial fuel reserves.
The tanks are designed for under-deck or bilge installation – they have a flattened, wide shape (“low-profile” tanks) that distributes weight low in the hull, improving stability. For different capacities, various dimensions are offered: for example, the small 40–62 L models are elongated and can fit into narrow spaces, whereas the enormous 767 L model is taller and intended for spacious yacht bilges. Each tank includes standard fittings: a filler neck (threaded to connect to a deck fill or for direct filling), a vent outlet (usually 16 mm), as well as one or multiple fuel feeds (8 mm or 10 mm, with the number depending on size – the model’s specification indicates how many outlets). These outlets allow, for instance, splitting fuel supply to multiple engines or devices (engine, generator, heater etc.) from one tank.
- 40–62 L tanks: Small capacities most often used for compact boats, RIBs, or as reserve tanks. For example, a 44-liter tank is popular for 5-meter RIBs with 60–80 HP outboards, providing a decent range. The factory sender in these smaller models, though compact, gives you the convenience of constantly monitoring fuel without guessing or relying on translucent walls.
- 270–370 L tanks: Mid-large range, suitable for bigger cruising boats and sailing yachts. A ~270 L tank, for instance, can supply a 30–40 ft yacht’s diesel engine for extended cruising or power a combination of engine and generator. These tanks often have one larger fuel outlet (Ø10 mm) or multiple smaller ones, which provides flexibility in plumbing. The flat design makes it easy to place them on the bottom of a central keel area and strap them down securely.
- 450–767 L tanks: The highest capacities, intended for motor yachts, houseboats, or small commercial craft where very large fuel reserves are required. The 767 L tank, for example, can hold enough diesel for a transatlantic passage on an efficient yacht or run houseboat generators and engines for weeks. Despite their size, thanks to crosslinked polyethylene these tanks remain lighter than steel equivalents and won’t unduly weigh down your vessel. The built-in senders in these giants are extremely useful for keeping track of such a valuable fuel supply, and the durable material plus robust walls ensure safety and stability.
With this series, Five Marine covers the entire spectrum – you choose the capacity, and you get a turn-key solution: a certified tank with all key features integrated (including level sensor), ready to be installed and connected to your fuel system.
