Lewmar’s Blue Generation thruster control panels represent the latest evolution in bow/stern thruster controls, combining ease of use, safety features, and a sleek modern design. Built with attention to detail, each panel in this series uses sealed membrane switches that protect the internal electronics from dust and moisture. This ensures long-term reliability even in harsh marine environments. All panels support a dual voltage input of 12–24 V, making them compatible with a wide range of vessel electrical systems.

  • Single Joystick Panel (Part No. 02.045.03): A classic lever-style controller that offers intuitive and proportional control of the thruster. Move the joystick in the desired direction and the bow thruster responds accordingly, allowing for fine-tuned adjustments. This panel is ideal for skippers who prefer tactile feedback and traditional control. It installs from the front (no rear access needed) and features a snap-on bezel that hides the mounting screws for a clean finish. A protective flip-up cover is included, which can be closed when the thruster is not in use to prevent accidental activation and to shield the joystick from the elements.
  • Single Joypad Panel (Part No. 02.045.06): A low-profile button-based control pad that provides the same functionality as the joystick but in a compact form factor. The joypad’s directional buttons allow precise thruster control and are easy to operate even with wet hands or gloves, thanks to the high-quality sealed membrane. This panel is perfect for installations with limited dash space or for those who prefer a flat, modern control interface. It features the same LED status indicators and also comes with a protective cover. Despite its slim design, the unit is robust and offers the full range of thruster control in all directions.
  • Dual Thruster Control Pad (Dual Joypad, Part No. 02.045.05): This model integrates control of two thrusters (typically bow and stern thrusters) into a single panel. Using a multi-axis pad or a set of dual controls, the operator can engage both thrusters simultaneously or independently. For example, a diagonal press on the pad can activate both bow and stern thrusters together to move the entire vessel sideways – a huge advantage when docking in tight spaces. The dual control pad provides total vessel maneuverability from one station: you can hold the bow and stern against the dock or counter wind and current easily. It features built-in logic to prevent thruster overload and distinct LED warnings for each thruster (so if the bow thruster overheats or the stern thruster experiences low voltage, the corresponding indicator will alert you).

Common features across all Blue Generation panels include a stylish black finish that is UV-resistant to prevent fading, and rugged construction for longevity. Installation for all models is made simple – each requires only a standard cut-out and connects via a plug-and-play harness (compatible with Lewmar’s wiring looms). Safety has been a priority in the design: in addition to the physical cover, the panels have an auto-off feature if a control is held continuously beyond a set time, and a built-in lockout to prevent unintended operation after power cycling until deliberately activated.

  • LED Indicators & Alarms: Multi-function LED lights on each panel provide at-a-glance system status. They show when the system is powered on (standby mode), when the thruster is actively running, and they flash to warn of low battery voltage or motor over-temperature/fault conditions. This feedback keeps the operator informed and can preempt potential issues by prompting timely action (such as reducing usage if the thruster is overheating).
  • Protective Cover: Every control panel comes with a matching protective cover that can be snapped or closed over the controls. This cover is often lockable or very secure, effectively preventing inadvertent activation of the thruster – a valuable safety feature when untrained individuals are on board or during cleaning/maintenance of the helm. It also adds an extra layer of environmental protection when the controls are not in use.
  • Front-Mount Installation: Lewmar Blue Generation panels are designed for front mounting, meaning you do not need rear access behind the helm console to install them. The wiring plugs in from the front side as well, making upgrades or replacements in tight helm stations much easier. The snap-on bezel design neatly conceals the screws, giving a professional, flush appearance once mounted.
  • Compatibility & Adaptability: These panels interface directly with Lewmar Blue Generation thruster systems. For boat owners upgrading from older “Black Box” generation Lewmar thrusters, an adapter module (Part No. 02.045.90) is available to allow the new Blue Generation panels to work with legacy thruster wiring and motors. This ensures backward compatibility so you can enjoy the improved controls without replacing the entire thruster system.
