These Lewmar thruster replacement propellers allow you to quickly restore your bow thruster’s performance if the original prop is damaged or worn. They are molded from a special tough composite material – chosen by Lewmar for its strength and the fact that it does not corrode or react with the thruster’s bronze hub or steel tunnel. As a result, the composite blades are not only lightweight and impact-resistant, but they also eliminate the risk of galvanic corrosion that could occur with metal propellers.
Two propeller models are available, covering the most popular Lewmar thrusters:
- Lewmar 140TT Propeller (02.048.01): Genuine replacement blade with optimized profile for 140 mm tunnel thrusters. This prop is used on smaller boats (typically 20–30 ft) with thrusters around 2–3 kW.
- Lewmar 185TT Propeller (02.048.03): Genuine blade for 185 mm tunnel thruster systems. Suited for mid-sized yachts (e.g. 30–45 ft) with thrusters ~5–8 kW, it delivers full thrust per factory specifications.
Both propellers are precision-engineered – their diameter, pitch, and blade count exactly match the original design, ensuring your thruster’s performance (thrust in kg) is returned to 100%. Installation is straightforward: disconnect power to the thruster, access the prop in the tunnel (usually via the bow or from under the boat), remove the locking device (pin/nut), slide off the old propeller, and install the new one in its place, securing it with the original locking mechanism. The manufacturer advises always using original locking components or new ones if provided to avoid any loosening in operation.
With a new propeller, your thruster will run quieter and more efficiently, free of vibrations from warped blades. Genuine Lewmar propellers outperform generic substitutes in quality – they are balanced, durable, and designed for optimal interaction with the specific thruster model. That means better maneuverability for your boat and a longer service life for the thruster itself.
