These Lewmar thruster anode kits ensure your bow thruster remains protected from galvanic corrosion. The anodes are specifically shaped and formulated for the metal of Lewmar thruster propellers and tunnels, providing superior sacrificial protection. Over time, especially in salt or brackish water, the metal parts of a thruster can corrode. By installing the correct anode, corrosion attacks the anode instead of the expensive components of your thruster.
Lewmar offers different anodes corresponding to thruster size:
- Code 02.047.01: Anode kit for 140TT thrusters (approx. 140 mm tunnel diameter). Typically found on boats ~6–8 m. Includes one anode shaped for this model and a lock nut.
- Code 02.047.03: Anode kit for 185TT thrusters (≈185 mm tunnel), common on boats ~9–12 m. Contains one anode plus nut.
- Code 02.047.12: Anode kit for 250TT/300TT thrusters (larger models). Intended for yachts 12 m and up; includes two anodes and fasteners, as these larger thrusters accommodate dual anodes.
Each kit also comes with a self-locking nut (or cotter pin, depending on model) to ensure the anode stays firmly attached during thruster operation. Replacing the anode is straightforward: remove the old nut, take off the wasted anode, install the new anode, and tighten it with the provided nut. For optimal protection, check the anode’s condition every few months and replace it once more than half its mass is gone.
Using genuine Lewmar anodes is important – they are made from the correct alloy (zinc for saltwater or aluminum for slow-speed/brackish use) and are precision-fit for your thruster. This guarantees that protection is as effective as possible and that there are no gaps or vibrations. By renewing anodes regularly, you extend the life of your thruster, prevent costly damage, and maintain peak performance. It’s a small investment that safeguards a major piece of equipment – a solution that outperforms generic aftermarket anodes in quality and reliability.
