These fuel tanks with capacities 62–353 L fall into the mid-to-large segment and offer an excellent balance between fuel volume and installation convenience. Made from cross-linked polyethylene, they are strong enough to handle the weight of a large quantity of fuel, yet they are lighter and easier to maneuver during installation than metal tanks of equivalent size. They are approved by RINA and carry the CE mark, indicating they have undergone the necessary checks for durability, leak-tightness, and fire safety in accordance with ISO 21487 – the standard for built-in fuel tanks in small craft.

Their design is developed for maximum versatility in installation. Each tank has an integrated fuel vent (16 mm) on top, which simplifies setup – you simply connect a short hose to a deck vent fitting or filter. The primary fuel outlet is a brass fitting with a 3/8” female thread, which comes pre-installed or provided – a standard size for most fuel lines. Additionally, the tank body features a factory-prepared (sealed) second threaded port. For boats with multiple fuel consumers (such as a dual-engine setup, or an engine plus a generator), you can utilize this port to install a second outlet, enabling parallel fuel feeds without needing a separate tank.

On the top of every model is a universal sender mount, making these tanks ready to accept a fuel level monitoring device – either a mechanical float gauge or an electronic sender. This is an important feature as it eases integration of the tank into your boat’s monitoring system, especially for longer voyages.

The range of sizes in this series allows for specific use cases: the smaller variants like 62 and 75 L have compact dimensions suitable for tight motorboats and fishing vessels, where the tank must pass through narrow hatches or fit into confined spaces. The mid-range 100–180 L tanks meet the needs of most standard yachts and cruisers (6–8 m), providing enough fuel for multi-day trips. The largest in the series (270 and 353 L) find their place in bigger motor yachts or twin-engine configurations, where a combination of high fuel capacity and balanced weight distribution is sought. Even with these larger volumes, the polyethylene tanks remain resistant to impacts and dynamic loads – the material has slight flexibility, allowing it to absorb vibrations and accommodate thermal expansion without cracking.

  • 62–75 L tanks: The smallest in this group, ideal for small motorboats, fishing skiffs, or RIBs where a tank needs to fit through a tight hatch or into a limited compartment. These tanks are lightweight, easy to position, and can be secured with minimal hardware. They are suitable for engines with lower fuel consumption, providing fuel for a few hours of operation.
  • 100–150 L tanks: The all-purpose mid-range, intended for the majority of recreational and semi-professional boats in the 6–7.5 m range. A tank around 120 L, for example, is common for a 6.5 m yacht with an inboard diesel – offering a comfortable reserve for a week-long cruise. They fit well under cockpit floors or behind consoles, while maintaining a low center of gravity.
  • 180–353 L tanks: The larger variants, suited for more serious vessels (7.5–10+ m) or multi-engine systems. For instance, a 270 L tank could supply two medium outboards on an 8 m powerboat, giving them enough fuel for a full day of running at efficient cruise. The largest 353 L tank can be used for long passages on a motor yacht or as a central tank in a system feeding multiple consumers (engines + generators).

With this series of crosslinked PE tanks, Five Marine provides a flexible solution for a wide variety of boats – meeting modern standards, simplifying installation and integration, and thanks to the quality material, it will serve you reliably for years in all conditions.
