The “Giant” Heavy Duty table pedestal represents a top-of-the-line telescopic support for your table, built to handle maximum loads and provide rock-solid stability in marine conditions. With a height range of 345–714 mm, it covers the typical needs for convertible tables (ones that drop to seat level to form a bed and rise for dining). Heavy Duty means this model is engineered for greater weight and frequent use, setting it apart from standard models with reinforced construction and mechanisms.

Construction and Materials:

  • Mirror Anodized Aluminum: The entire column is made of high-strength aluminum with a mirror-polished anodized finish. This not only gives a luxurious look but also adds extra scratch and corrosion resistance. Even in a high-salt, humid environment, the pedestal retains its shine and won’t pit or dull.
  • Tri-Telescopic Tube: It consists of three telescoping sections with large diameters – 100 mm, 88 mm, and 72 mm. The large initial diameter (100 mm) translates to exceptional resistance to bending or twisting. Even when fully extended, the pedestal holds the table very steady. Each section moves precisely thanks to quality bushings and guides.
  • Large Base: The round base at Ø305 mm is “extra-flat” – very low profile on the floor. The wide diameter spreads the forces over a larger area of the deck, which is crucial for heavy tables and protects the floor structure from concentrated stress. Mounting holes around the perimeter allow secure fastening (ideally with through-bolts and a backing plate beneath the deck if possible). When the column is removed (if that option is provided), what remains on the floor is a discreet flat base that won’t obstruct movement.
  • Big Top Plate: At the top, there is a 305×305 mm mounting plate – significantly larger than standard. This allows you to mount large tabletops, rectangular or round, without fear of the ends sagging. The plate attaches to the underside of your table with multiple screws, creating a very solid connection.

Gas Spring and Adjustment:

  • Assisted Lifting: Inside the column is an integrated gas spring, tuned to assist the “upstroke” – i.e., raising the table upward. This means when you unlock the pedestal, the table feels “lighter” and you can lift it to the high position with minimal effort. The gas cylinder buffers the motion, making it smooth and controlled (no sudden jolts or drops). On the way down, the gas spring acts as a damper – the table will descend slowly, not slam down.
  • Locking at Any Height: The Heavy Duty model comes with stainless steel clamping collars on the telescopic sections. These allow you to lock the pedestal at intermediate heights, not just the extremes. That’s especially useful if you want the table at a mid-level (like coffee-table height). Once tightened, these collars keep the pedestal rigid, eliminating any play.
  • No Floor Boring: Like the previous model, this pedestal doesn’t require a floor socket. Even when fully lowered (345 mm), the three sections retract within the outer tube and base, not below floor level. This simplifies installation on existing boats – no need to modify the flooring.

Applications:

  • Large Yachts and Cruisers: The Giant Heavy Duty is intended for larger sail or motor yachts where the salon table is a central gathering spot. Its beefy build and high capacity make it suitable for tables that seat 6 or more people, or for heavy tabletops (solid wood, stone inlays, etc.). Even in choppy conditions, this support keeps the table secure.
  • Berth Conversion: Thanks to the minimum height of 345 mm, the table can drop to seat-cushion level, serving as a platform for cushions to create a spacious bed. The Heavy Duty strength means it can safely serve as part of a bed, supporting the weight of people sleeping on it without bending or slowly sinking overnight.
  • Luxury Settings: The mirror finish and hidden mechanisms make this pedestal not only functional but also visually premium. It complements the upscale interior of your yacht. Despite its size and strength, its operation is quiet and smooth – a trait appreciated in high-end environments.

With the “Giant” Heavy Duty pedestal, you get the ultimate in reliability and convenience. This is a product engineered with no compromises for those who want the very best for their boat – ease of use, safety, and durability, even under intensive daily operation.
