This Osculati small telescopic retractable davit kit is a state-of-the-art solution for handling your tender or gangway on board medium-sized yachts. The system includes two anodized aluminum davits designed to be installed flush into the deck (typically at the stern quarters). When not in use, each davit slides and telescopes down into its socket, hiding completely below the walking surface of the deck. This means you maintain a clutter-free deck with no protruding hardware – a huge advantage for both aesthetics and safety on board (no tripping hazards). When it’s time to launch or retrieve your dinghy, simply lift each davit pole out from its recessed position; the davit will lock in the upright position, ready to work.

Innovative Telescopic Design: Each davit is telescopic, consisting of an inner and outer tube (Ø73/80 mm) that allow you to adjust the height and outreach. A built-in handle on the telescoping section makes it easy to pull up and set the length as needed for your tender. The adjustable length (height ~990 mm, outreach extendable from 550 mm to 900 mm) means you can fine-tune the davit’s position to match your boat’s freeboard and the size of the dinghy – ensuring the tender clears the rail and can be swung aboard or out to the water without hassle. Despite the lightweight aluminum construction, these davits are engineered to support up to 180 kg per pair, which is suitable for a typical 2.5–3.5 m RIB or a small jet tender with outboard. (This capacity refers to using two davits together to lift the load; e.g., each davit supports half the weight.)

Dual Operating Angles – Tender or Gangway Mode: Uniquely, the davit bases allow two locking angles for the upright pole. You can set the davits vertically (straight up, parallel to the transom) when lifting a dinghy – this positions the davit heads outboard, ideal for suspending and swinging a tender. Alternatively, you can set them at a 20° inward incline toward the centerline, which is the proper angle to hold a passerelle (boarding gangway). In the inclined position, the davit can support a gangway, allowing easy boarding from a quay. This versatility means the same davit system serves two purposes: launching the tender when at anchor, and acting as supports for a boarding plank when docked stern-to.

Integrated Sheaves and Rigging Points: Each davit head is equipped with a double pulley (sheave) system and a becket. This allows you to rig a block-and-tackle or purchase system for hoisting. For instance, one line can be used for the dinghy harness, and another for a different purpose (or as a double-purchase to reduce effort). The included becket (an attachment point on the davit) makes it easy to secure the standing end of a line or to rig a block. With two davits, you can use a bridle on your tender – connecting both davits via lines – to lift it evenly from two points. The heavy-duty sheaves accommodate rope for smooth lifting and lowering, minimizing friction.

Discrete Installation and Build Quality: The davits are made of high-strength anodized aluminum alloy, giving them an excellent strength-to-weight ratio and superior corrosion resistance. An anodized finish ensures they remain looking good (matching other marine aluminum fittings) and maintenance is minimal (occasional rinse is enough). The base of each davit is designed to be flush-mounted into the deck or swim platform. The required deck cut-out diameter is Ø112 mm, and the davit base flange is Ø160 mm for secure seating. When retracted, a cover or flush lid (if provided/installed as part of your deck) can conceal the davit opening completely. Osculati has also thought of water drainage – there is an optional PVC drain bag (code 42.358.90) that can be attached below the deck to catch any water that enters the recess, funneling it away so your lockers stay dry. The base includes an anti-shock seal and drain fitting to work with such a system. All these features reflect the high engineering standards and attention to real-world use.

This small telescopic retractable davit system is an ideal solution for boat owners who want the capability to handle a tender (or heavy PWC, engine, etc.) without permanently cluttering the stern with davits. It suits yachts and powerboats where maintaining a clean profile is important – for example, sailing yachts with limited aft deck space or motor yachts with a swim platform. When deployed, the davits provide strong lifting points, and when you’re done, they tuck away leaving the boat’s lines unspoiled. In summary, this product offers top-tier convenience and versatility for managing auxiliary craft, combining robust performance (180 kg capacity, telescoping adjustment) with a luxury-yacht clean installation that keeps the deck free when not in use.
