Side Mount Base for 25mm Gangway Stanchion (Chromed Brass)
This side mount base (bushing) for gangways is designed to hold a handrail stanchion firmly in place, ensuring safety during boarding and disembarking. It is crafted from solid brass with a chrome plating, making it highly resistant to marine corrosion and giving it an elegant appearance that matches other deck fittings. Installation is straightforward – the base mounts to the side of the gangway or directly on the boat’s transom, and a Ø25 mm handrail post inserts into the bushing, secured with a bolt or pin.
This bushing is especially useful when outfitting your passerelle with handrails: install one base on each side of the gangway to accommodate a pair of stanchions and a connecting rope or rail between them. When you retract or remove the gangway, the handrail posts can be pulled out, and the low-profile bases remain flush and unobtrusive. The chromed brass construction withstands load and stress – your handrail post won’t wobble or loosen even under pressure. In addition to new installations, this part is suitable for replacing worn or corroded gangway bases – the standard sizing ensures compatibility.
Application: Mount the bushing at the gangway’s hinge area or on the yacht’s stern where the passerelle attaches. To avoid galvanic corrosion, use stainless steel fasteners for installation. Once mounted, insert the 25 mm rail stanchion into the bushing and secure it with the provided pin or screw – your gangway handrail is ready to use. When it’s time to stow the passerelle, simply remove the posts from the bases. This product greatly enhances the safety and convenience of using a gangway, especially on larger yachts where handrails are essential.
