2.0 m Foldable Aluminum Gangway – Lightweight Boarding Ramp

Code:
42.656.00

A 2.0 m foldable aluminum gangway (passerelle) designed for easy boarding and disembarking from yachts and boats. Made of anodized aluminum with a non-slip tread surface, this gangway is lightweight, sturdy, and convenient to store – it folds in half. Equipped with stainless steel hinge pins for quick separation and transport. The perfect solution for marinas, docks, or stepping ashore.

  • Strong & Lightweight: Constructed from marine-grade anodized aluminum – won’t rust and keeps weight low (~13 kg), allowing one person to easily deploy or remove it.
  • Anti-Slip Surface: Walking platform features a grating coated with white anti-skid material, ensuring secure footing even when wet.
  • Foldable Design: The gangway folds in half, with two quick-release stainless steel pins connecting the sections – folds/unfolds in seconds and stows compactly on deck or in a locker.
  • Standard Dimensions: 2.0 m length, 33 cm width – suitable for small to mid-sized vessels. The width provides comfortable passage, and the slim profile fits common deck brackets.
  • Boarding Convenience: Makes boarding passengers easy, especially when there’s a height gap between boat and dock. Can be used with handrail lines (not included) for added safety if needed.

This 2.0 m foldable aluminum gangway (passerelle) provides a stable means of boarding and disembarking for your boat. It’s built from high-strength aluminum which has been anodized – a treatment that shields the metal from corrosion in the marine environment and gives it a smart satin finish. Thanks to the aluminum construction, the gangway combines rigidity and light weight, capable of supporting an adult with gear (typical load capacity for this class is around 120–150 kg) while still being light enough for one person to handle comfortably. (The specific load rating for this model is ~150 kg – it’s recommended to allow one person on the gangway at a time.)

Non-Slip Surface: The walking surface consists of an open grating topped with a white anti-skid coating. This ensures that even when the gangway is wet from rain or sea spray, footing remains secure. The grated design allows water to drain through, preventing puddles and reducing slippage.

Folding & Assembly: The gangway is bi-fold – made of two equal sections connected at the midpoint. The hinge at the fold is sturdy and crafted from stainless steel, and two heavy-duty stainless quick pins lock the sections in alignment when in use. To fold the gangway, you simply remove the pins, allowing the two sections to separate and fold over onto each other. Once folded, the length is halved, making it easy to stow – you can keep it in a cockpit locker, storage compartment, or on deck without it being in the way. Many boats have dedicated passerelle brackets or mounts – this gangway’s 33 cm width makes it compatible with a variety of standard fittings.

When folded, you also have the option to completely split the gangway into two pieces (by removing the hinge pins entirely), which further eases transport – for instance, if you need to take it by car or store it off-season, two shorter halves are much more manageable. Each half weighs about 6–7 kg, which is very easy to carry.

Usage: Upon arriving at a dock or a shallow shoreline, you unfold the gangway and position it so one end rests on your boat (usually onto a deck hinge or roller fitting at the stern or bow) and the other end sits on the dock or ground. Often, passerelles have a mounting plate or wheels at the dock end to help it slide and adjust – this model has a flat landing plate on the shore end that sits securely on the dock surface. You can lash or clip the gangway in place for security – there are holes/points on it to attach safety lines or railings.

Safety: For added safety, especially if you have elderly guests or children, you can rig up a handrail line or removable stanchion handrails on one or both sides of the gangway (this model comes prepared with attachment points for optional handrail systems – handrail kits sold separately). It’s advisable to always monitor the gangway’s placement while in use – as the boat moves with waves, ensure it doesn’t slip off its support. The stainless steel pins keep the gangway rigid and locked while deployed.

Applications: Foldable gangways are extremely practical for smaller yachts and motorboats that don’t have built-in telescopic passerelles. The 2 m length is sufficient in most situations where the boat is close to the pier – it will bridge the gap and height difference. If the dock is higher or the gap larger, you can use the gangway at an angle or incorporate extra steps as needed. This gangway can also serve between two decks (for example, between boats moored side by side, allowing crew to cross).

When it’s time to depart, the gangway is easily lifted, folded, and stowed – unlike a fixed gangway, this one won’t take up your yacht’s entire transom width and there’s no risk of dragging it in the water by accident because it’s simple to detach and put away.
