Osculati 7×50 Professional Marine Binoculars – Waterproof Auto-Focus (Nitrogen, Ruby Lenses)

Code:
26.747.00

A high-quality 7×50 marine binocular with auto-focus, built for navigation and observation in harsh conditions. This professional Osculati model is 100% waterproof and fog-proof (nitrogen-filled), featuring special “Ruby” anti-glare lenses to cut down reflections. The rugged rubber-armored body provides shock resistance and a steady grip, and the auto-focus (focus-free) system lets you see clearly at long distances without constant manual adjustment. A floating neck strap and hard carrying case are included for protection – a must-have tool for any captain or yachtsman.

  • 7×50 Optics (Marine Standard): 7x magnification for a wide, stable view even on a pitching boat; large 50 mm objectives for excellent brightness at dusk, dawn, and low-light conditions
  • 100% Waterproof & Nitrogen-Filled: Fully sealed housing charged with nitrogen gas – prevents internal fogging of the lenses during sudden temperature changes; resistant to rain, spray, and brief immersion
  • Auto-Focus (Focus-Free): Fixed focus system tuned for sharp imagery from ~20 m to infinity – no need for manual focusing on distant targets. Just raise the binoculars and you instantly get a clear view – invaluable in fast-developing situations
  • “Ruby” Anti-Glare Lenses: Special reddish multi-coating on the optics that reduces glare from the sun and reflections off water; enhances contrast and viewing comfort in bright conditions
  • Durable Rubber Design + Accessories: Robust body with rubber armor that absorbs shocks and ensures a non-slip grip, even with wet hands. Included: a bright floating neck strap (binocular stays afloat if dropped in water) and a hard case for storage and transport

The Osculati 7×50 professional binocular is engineered with marine navigation and reliability in mind. The 7×50 format has been considered the gold standard for mariners for decades – and for good reason. The 7x magnification offers a steady image (higher powers would be hard to hold steady on a rolling deck), and the 50 mm objective lenses gather ample light, which is crucial in twilight or nighttime when binoculars are often used to pick out lighthouses and buoys. With these binoculars, you can comfortably discern landmarks even in low light conditions, relying on a bright and high-contrast image.

One standout feature of this model is its auto-focus system. Technically referred to as “individual focus” or “focus-free” at long distances, it means each eyepiece is factory-set (with a possible diopter adjustment for your eyes) to deliver a sharp image from a certain minimum distance to infinity (here roughly 20 meters to ∞). In practice, when you hold up the binoculars, everything in the distance – the horizon, clouds, ships – will be in focus without you turning a focus wheel. This is incredibly convenient in a dynamic marine setting: imagine you suddenly notice something important – instead of fumbling with focus knobs, you just look through the binoculars and you see clearly immediately. It’s important to note that this system is intended for medium to long range; objects that are very close (under ~20 m) might appear out of focus, but such nearby objects are rarely of interest at sea.

The Osculati 7×50 is built like a tank – its body is solid and well-protected. The binocular’s chassis is encased in a thick layer of rubber, which serves two roles: shielding the precise internal optics from impacts and drops, and providing a grippy, “tacky” surface for your hands. Even if a wave douses the boat and you’re soaked to the elbows, the binoculars are unlikely to slip from your grasp. Meanwhile, the interior of the body is filled with nitrogen gas. This is a standard practice in high-end optics to prevent internal condensation. When you carry the binoculars from a warm cabin out into the cold night air (or vice versa), normally any moisture inside would condense on the lenses and fog your view. But because the interior has no moisture (only dry nitrogen), that problem is eliminated – hence we call it “fog-proof”. Naturally, the housing itself is fully sealed and waterproof – it can withstand heavy rain, sea spray, even if you dunk the binoculars in water briefly and pull them out, they’ll still function (though extended submersion is not recommended).

Another notable feature is the Ruby-coated lenses. If you look at them from the outside, they have a slight reddish/orange sheen. This multi-coating is specially designed to reflect certain bands of bright light (particularly in the yellow-green spectrum) that cause glare, very common when the sun is shining on the waves. By filtering some of that out, the light reaching your eyes is more balanced, which increases contrast – a white buoy will stand out against sparkling water, details of a ship on the horizon are easier to pick out against glare. Some users also report that these lenses make their eyes feel less strained during prolonged use on bright days.

The package includes a bright orange floating neck strap. This strap has two purposes: first, convenience – you hang the binoculars around your neck or shoulder so they’re always at hand but out of the way when not needed. Second, safety – its material and design ensure that if the binoculars accidentally go overboard, the strap will keep them afloat, as it’s filled with buoyant foam. Its vivid color also makes it easy to spot among waves. Also included is a hard carrying case (usually with stiff sides or reinforced panels) where you can store the binoculars when not in use – for example, when stowing the boat or while on land. The case protects them during transport and keeps dust and dirt off the lenses.

Uses and Recommendations:

  • Navigation and Sailing: These binoculars are made for captains and navigators. They’re ideal for reading distant navigation aids, flags, or lighthouse signals at night (the large objectives gather the faint light of far-off beacons excellently), as well as judging distances to hazards or other vessels.
  • Offshore Fishing: For ocean anglers, the 7×50 auto-focus offers the ability to watch for birds (which signal fish) or distant fishing activity without getting distracted by focusing. Always having the horizon in sharp view means you can catch sight of fishing “action” in time to get there.
  • Rescue and Patrol: The waterproof and rugged nature makes it suitable for rescue teams, coast guards, and marine patrols – where reliability is key and auto-focus allows quick scanning of wide areas for people in distress or suspicious objects.
  • Leisure Boating and Cruising: If you simply enjoy boating, these binoculars will enhance your experience – the sights of distant shores, seabirds, and marine life are so much better through quality optics. The auto-focus is also great for sharing – multiple people can take turns with the binoculars without each needing to refocus for their eyes (after initial diopter setup for each user).
  • Care and Maintenance: Like any precision optics, take care of them – rinse the rubber exterior with fresh water if salt spray gets on it, dry it off, and store it in its case. Don’t attempt to disassemble – if internal cleaning is ever needed (unlikely unless dropped hard), use a professional service to maintain the seal. This binocular is a tool that, with good care, will serve you reliably for many years at sea.
