The Quicksilver 35-879172104 is a specialized diesel fuel filter designed for Mercury MerCruiser QSD (Quantum Series Diesel) engines. These modern common-rail diesels (2.0L, 2.8L, and 4.2L) demand ultra-clean fuel for reliable operation – and the Quicksilver filter delivers exactly that. Its water-separating element strips moisture from the diesel, protecting the high-pressure fuel pumps and injectors from corrosion and damage. The extended canister houses a large filter media surface area, capable of holding more contaminants between changes – ideal for diesels operating in harsh conditions. Built to Mercury’s OEM standards, it fits perfectly on the original filter head/bracket. It is recommended to replace this filter every 100 hours or annually, as clean fuel is critical to the longevity and power output of these advanced diesel engines.
