The Quicksilver 35-879884T is a genuine under-cowl fuel filter designed for Mercury/Mariner 30–60 HP four-stroke outboards with Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI). In particular, this includes the 30 HP EFI (a rare 3-cylinder model derived from the 40HP, offered in certain markets) and the widely-used 40, 50, and 60 HP EFI 4-cylinder engines Mercury introduced in the mid-2000s. For these engines, clean fuel is critical – they have fuel rails and injectors operating at high pressure, and even tiny particles can affect performance.

The 879884T filter is built as an “under the hood” component – it sits inside the engine compartment, typically inline between the fuel inlet and the high-pressure fuel pump. Notable features include a larger filtration capacity and a sturdy housing to withstand the fuel pressures of an EFI system. Mercury describes it as an “OEM-quality under-cowl fuel filter” for the 30–60 EFI range, which ensures the filter element meets the standards of the original assembly.

The translucent case allows the owner to take a quick look whenever the cowling is off – if the fuel inside appears cloudy or shows sediment, it’s time to replace the filter. Changing it is relatively straightforward: after turning the engine off and relieving fuel pressure, you remove the old filter (unclamping the hoses) and install the new one, then secure the hoses again with clamps.

With Quicksilver 35-879884T, your Mercury EFI engine (30–60 HP) will receive fuel free of harmful impurities. In practice, that means smoother running, better efficiency, and confidence that your injectors stay clean. This filter is part of routine maintenance – inspection and/or replacement is recommended annually or per Mercury’s service schedule (especially if the boat operates in dusty environments or with older fuel). Investing in the genuine filter ensures you maintain warranty compliance and long-term engine reliability.
