The SOLAS Amita 4 10x13 model combines four blades and a higher pitch to offer increased top-end speed while maintaining the excellent thrust of a 4-blade prop. It is suitable for boats with Johnson/Evinrude 20-35 HP that are not fully maxed out on weight, and for owners looking to squeeze a bit more speed without losing the stability and handling provided by a 4-blade design.
Compared to the 10.1x12 version, this 10x13 prop has a slightly smaller diameter but higher pitch. This results in a slight reduction in initial acceleration (holeshot) but allows the engine to run at lower RPM for the same boat speed. The outcome can be a higher top speed with a light load and improved fuel economy at cruising speeds. Under the right conditions (light to moderately loaded boat), the 10x13 prop will let the engine reach its recommended RPM and give a “taller gear” feeling – the engine runs more relaxed at high speeds.
Like all SOLAS propellers, this one is built strong and precise. The pressure casting technique is used for fabrication, and it’s finished with a corrosion-resistant coating. This ensures that even under higher stresses and prolonged use, the prop will retain its performance characteristics and won’t be easily damaged.
Use Cases & Recommendations:
- Suitable for moderately loaded boats (3–5 m) – for example, fast fishing boats or small runabouts with 25-35 HP engines that typically carry a moderate load and want a bit more speed
- Balance of thrust and speed: The 13″ pitch in a 4-blade format offers a good mix – the boat still planes quickly but gains a few extra km/h at WOT compared to a 12″ 4-blade prop
- Steadier ride in chop: Even at higher speed, the four blades keep the boat stable. You’ll notice this when running in light chop or making swift turns – the prop “holds” the water better than a 3-blade of similar pitch
- Compatibility: Fits Johnson/Evinrude 20-35 HP (14 spline) – allows fine-tuning performance if you are coming from a 12″ pitch 4-blade or a 13″ pitch 3-blade. It also works with equivalent OMC/BRP models and is applicable to some 25-30 HP 4-strokes based on OMC designs. Using this prop is especially beneficial if the 12″/4-blade had your engine over-revving slightly, as the 13″ will bring RPM down into the optimal range
