Mercury has essentially taken its larger small-engine platform and made it available in a 10HP configuration, offering boaters in this category a modern EFI-equipped motor. With Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI), the F10 starts effortlessly – just a gentle pull or turn of the key brings it to life, and it runs smoothly without the quirks of older carbureted 9.9 engines (no warming up issues or altitude adjustments needed). The engine features a twin-cylinder inline layout (depending on region, Mercury’s 10HP may share the larger 333cc block detuned to 10HP, which means it has abundant torque for a 10HP, or a dedicated 208cc design in some markets) – in both cases, it’s engineered for smooth and quiet operation. Low vibration mounts and Mercury’s sound attenuating cowling design result in a pleasant, quiet idle and a steady, refined sound at higher RPM.
