Mercury F100 – 100HP FourStroke Outboard – Compact, Efficient & Reliable

The Mercury F100 bridges the gap between Mercury’s popular 90HP and 115HP models, offering boats a bit of extra power without a significant increase in weight or size. This 100HP engine uses the same 2.1L four-cylinder block as the larger F115, but it’s tuned for a lower peak output. As a result, the F100 inherits all the advantages of that platform – high torque, quick throttle response, and reliable running – while being more accessible and economical for smaller boats.

At approximately 163 kg dry weight, the Mercury F100 is virtually as light as the 90HP model, meaning you get those extra 10 horses without any “penalty” of added weight on the transom. That’s a valuable bonus for small boats (~4–5 meters), where every kilogram affects balance and performance. With its strong torque, the F100 helps such boats get on plane faster and handle more confidently when loaded with additional passengers or gear.

Like the F115, the Mercury F100 is characterized by quiet, smooth operation. At low speeds, the engine is barely audible, making it great for relaxed cruising or trolling while fishing. Fuel consumption is exceptionally low – four-stroke efficiency combined with electronic fuel injection ensures the mixture is optimized at all times for minimal burn. This translates to longer trips and more hours of running on a tank of fuel.

The Mercury F100 also offers a Command Thrust option (depending on market) – a version with a larger gearcase and prop, similar to the F115 CT model. This variant is especially useful if the engine will be mounted on heavier boats, pontoons, or barges, as it provides extra thrust at low speeds and better control. Even without CT, the standard F100 has an impressive ability to push heavy hulls for its class.

Although it’s lower in horsepower, the F100 makes no compromises in quality: you get the same robust internal components, the same anti-corrosion treatments, and electronic systems (including Engine Guardian and SmartCraft compatibility) as the bigger models.
