Mercury F175 is part of Mercury’s latest V6 FourStroke series launched in 2018. This 175HP engine features a 3.4-liter V6 (naturally aspirated, 24-valve, DOHC) that achieves an excellent balance of high power and compact size. With a dry weight of about 213 kg (20” L model), the Mercury F175 is often lighter than even some 4-cylinder 175HP competitors, which improves boat balance and handling. A unique feature of the new V6 is Adaptive Speed Control – it automatically maintains a steady engine rpm despite changes in load or conditions, without constant throttle adjustments. This means less effort for the driver and smoother boat behavior when encountering waves, making tight turns, or dealing with shifting loads.

To meet the needs of modern boats loaded with electronics, Mercury equipped the F175 with an 85-amp alternator and an intelligent charging system. Even at low rpm, the engine will gently raise its idle if it senses a voltage drop, ensuring your batteries remain topped up at all times. Naturally, the Mercury F175 is SmartCraft-compatible – ready to feed data to digital gauges, work with Active Trim, and integrate with other advanced control features.

The Mercury F175 V6 delivers the power and reliability you’d expect from Mercury while staying in a lower weight and power class than the V8 models. It’s an excellent choice for boats around 6.5–8.5 meters in length, where a standard 150HP motor may fall short but jumping up to 200HP would be excessive. In this “in-between” range, the F175 provides just the right amount of extra thrust and speed without undue increases in weight or fuel burn.

In practice, the Mercury F175 performs beautifully on mid-sized RIBs and fiberglass boats carrying heavier passenger or gear loads, as well as on multi-purpose fishing boats.
