Marine 2-Core Cables (Black/Red) with PVC Insulation 1–4 mm²

Code:
14.148.40

This marine two-core cable with red and black conductors simplifies onboard wiring by combining positive and negative leads in one insulated bundle. The cable uses flexible multi-strand copper conductors for dependable power delivery and vibration resistance. A common gray PVC jacket protects the pair, being resistant to moisture, UV, and oil, and the cable is flame-retardant – compliant with marine safety standards (IEC).

  • 2 conductors (red/black) in one cable – convenient routing and correct polarity identification
  • Flexible copper strands – multi-strand cores resist vibration and bending
  • Flame-retardant, oil-resistant PVC sheath – waterproof gray jacket (with protective cap on panel mounts)
  • Available in 1, 1.5, 2.5, 4 mm² cross-sections – suited for various onboard circuits (lighting, instruments, main feeds)

A high-quality twin-core cable for marine use, containing two color-coded conductors (red and black) under a single jacket. This cable provides a convenient solution for power and control circuits by bundling the positive and negative wires together – resulting in a cleaner installation and easier routing. The conductors are multi-strand copper, ensuring excellent flexibility and reliable current flow even under vibration and movement of the vessel. The overall outer jacket is made of durable nylon/PVC in gray color, which is flame-retardant and shields the cable from the harsh marine environment (sun, saltwater, oils). The cable meets IEC 60332 flame resistance and other relevant marine standards, making it a safe choice for boats and yachts.

Advantages and uses:

  • Combined wiring: Two cores in one cable mean faster, neater runs along the boat. It’s perfect for circuits that require both positive and negative conductors – for example, powering lights, pumps, or fans, where a twin cable simplifies the run.
  • Color identification: The red conductor serves as +12V/24V and the black as ground/negative. This minimizes connection errors and makes troubleshooting easier.
  • Environmental resilience: The gray outer insulation, complete with sealing grommets (in panel-mount versions with caps), protects the cores from moisture and corrosion. The cable withstands temperature extremes and is suitable for both open-air deck runs and damp below-deck areas.
  • Installation: Supplied in continuous lengths (reels), it can be used for flush panel mounting (with a rear nut fastener) as well as general point-to-point wiring throughout the hull. Commonly used for running power to bow searchlights, fish-finders/sonar units, navigation lights, and other accessories where a two-core feed is convenient.

Recommended sizes and applications:

  • 1 mm² (2×1 mm²): Suitable for low-current connections over short distances – e.g. interior LED lighting, small indicator lights, sensors. Maximum combined current ~10 A. Ideal for small boat circuits and low-power devices.
  • 1.5 mm² (2×1.5 mm²): A general-purpose size for lighting, electronic instruments, USB chargers, small pumps (up to ~15 A). Used in medium boats (5–6 m) for lighting circuits, nav lights, etc., where twin-core wiring simplifies installation.
  • 2.5 mm² (2×2.5 mm²): For medium to higher loads – powering cooler boxes, small deck winches, marine audio systems (up to ~20–25 A). Often used as a two-core feed for longer runs or moderate-consumption devices to minimize voltage drop.
  • 4 mm² (2×4 mm²): The largest twin-core in this range – handles higher currents (up to ~35–40 A combined). Ideal for main 12V feed lines in larger yachts, e.g. linking batteries to distribution panels or powering high-power spotlights or horns, where twin conductors simplify the setup.

Note: To make a complete connection, a compatible two-pole plug/socket may be required if using this cable with panel connectors or quick-disconnects (for portable equipment). The cable is suitable for both 12V and 24V systems. In 24V systems, you can run longer distances or slightly higher total power with less voltage drop, but always adhere to marine electrical standards during installation.
