Bulgarian Flag 20x30 cm – Compact Boat Flag for Small Craft

This compact Bulgarian flag, measuring 20 x 30 cm, is the smallest standard maritime flag size, suitable for vessels with very limited space. It’s an excellent choice for small boats such as canoes, kayaks, inflatable RIB tenders, or even jet skis, where a larger flag would be disproportionate. Additionally, on larger yachts, this size is often used as a courtesy flag – the small flag of the country you are visiting, typically flown on the starboard spreader of the mast.

The flag’s material is the same high-quality marine polyester fabric we use for our larger flags. This fabric is tear-resistant and built to withstand extreme conditions – strong sea winds, direct sun, and saltwater. The reinforced stitching along the perimeter ensures that the flag will not fray easily, even if it’s constantly flying when the boat is moving at speed.

On the hoist side, the flag comes either with a sewn-in rope or with metal grommets – both options allow quick attachment. Thanks to its compact dimensions, this flag can be attached almost anywhere on a small boat – to a short flag pole, an antenna, a bracket – without getting in the way. When not in use, the flag folds down to pocket-size, which makes it easy to stow in very small spaces.

A 20x30 cm flag is typically used as the main national ensign for very small boats (around 3–5 meters in length), where a bigger flag would simply be too large. On larger vessels, as mentioned, it often serves as an auxiliary flag – for instance, if a foreign ship visits a Bulgarian port, it might hoist such a small Bulgarian flag as a courtesy. With its bright colors and quality construction, this flag ensures that even a small boat can look proper and shipshape in keeping with maritime traditions.

• Small Craft: Ideal for canoes, small dinghies, inflatable “Zodiac” boats, and other very small craft where every inch of space is precious. A big flag would be impractical, but this size is proportionate and visible.
• Courtesy Flag: A perfect choice for a courtesy flag when sailing in foreign territorial waters – the small size is internationally accepted for a mast-mounted guest flag. For example, a Bulgarian yacht in Greece can fly a 20x30 cm Greek flag as a courtesy flag.
• Storage & Transport: Due to its small size, the flag can be quickly taken down, folded, and stowed safely (even in a pocket or small case) when the boat is not underway. This protects the flag and prolongs its life.
• Use in Combination: On larger vessels, multiple flags are often used – a large national ensign at the stern and smaller signal or national flags on the mast.
