The Raymarine EV-100 Tiller is an Evolution autopilot system designed for tiller-steered sailboats up to approximately 6,000 kg (13,200 lbs) displacement. This extends capability beyond the ST2000+ range, offering greater power and more advanced control for yachts around 25–32 ft in length. The EV-100 Tiller is an excellent choice for serious coastal and offshore sailing with a small crew, where reliability and integration with other onboard electronics are crucial.

The EV-100 Tiller pack (T70153) comes with everything you need: the EV-1 intelligent sensor core, the ACU-100 actuator control unit, the p70s autopilot control head, and a powerful tiller drive unit. The tiller actuator is a linear device similar to the ST2000+ in form, but it operates as part of the Evolution system – it attaches to your tiller and cockpit fitting in seconds, and can be easily removed when not in use to keep the cockpit clear. This flexibility is convenient for sailors, as it allows quick changeover between manual and automatic steering modes.

With the EV-100 Tiller, you get the advanced “brain” of the Evolution series that self-tunes and learns your boat’s handling characteristics on the fly. No manual compass calibration is required – once installed, the autopilot is virtually ready to go and will optimize itself automatically. The EV-1 sensor delivers high precision heading control (within ±2°) by compensating for roll, pitch, and yaw motions. When connected to a wind vane instrument, the EV-100 can steer to the wind (Wind Vane mode), which is especially useful for long upwind legs. By interfacing with your GPS/chartplotter, the system also supports Track mode to follow a pre-defined route.

The EV-100 Tiller integrates fully with your onboard electronics via the SeaTalkng/NMEA2000 network. This means you can control it not only from the p70s head, but also from Raymarine multifunction displays (such as Axiom) or even wireless remotes. Compared to the traditional ST1000+/ST2000+ tiller pilots, the EV-100 offers a higher level of precision, adaptability, and expandability. If your boat exceeds 6 tons or you plan open-ocean passages, you should consider moving up to the next class of autopilots (for example, an EV-200 Tiller/Sail system with a more powerful drive unit).
