The Raymarine EV-150 Power autopilot is designed to fill the gap between the EV-100 and EV-200 models, delivering more drive power than the EV-100 while remaining optimized for 12 V electrical systems on smaller boats where an EV-200 might be excessive. The EV-150 pack includes the EV-1 sensor, the new ACU-150 actuator control unit, a 12 V Type 1 hydraulic pump (1.0 L/min), the p70Rs control head, and all necessary cabling. With the ACU-150, the system can drive hydraulic rams from about 80 cc up to 230 cc in volume – essentially covering Type 1 drive units for smaller yachts and powerboats.
The EV-150 inherits all the smart features of the Evolution series: plug-and-play setup with no compass calibration, automatic adaptation to vessel handling and sea conditions, and 9-axis motion sensing via the EV-1 sensor. This means once installed, the autopilot is ready to steer – no complicated adjustments are required, just a quick startup wizard on the p70Rs display to configure basic settings.
As a hydraulic autopilot for small/medium boats, the EV-150 is equipped with the same Hydro-Balance™ technology that prevents rudder over-corrections. The system accounts for fluid compression in the hydraulics and modulates its commands to maintain a steady course without constant overshooting – a crucial factor for comfortable cruising and fuel savings during long trips. The ACU-150’s drive output is limited to roughly 7 A continuous (similar to the ACU-100), but it can handle larger pumps (Type 1) than the ACU-100 could. This makes the EV-150 suitable for boats that require a Type 1 pump but only have a 12 V onboard system.
Use Cases & Recommendations: The EV-150 Power is an excellent choice for sportfishing boats and smaller cruisers (~6–10 m) with single or twin engines and hydraulic steering systems. For instance, if your boat’s hydraulic cylinder is near the upper limit of what an EV-100 can handle (110 cc), the EV-150 provides extra torque reserve and greater autopilot reliability. Recommendation: The EV-150 is available in both a pump-included version and a core pack without a pump (for those who already have a Type 1 pump installed). Mount the EV-1 sensor securely and away from magnetic interference to fully leverage the precision of its 9-axis monitoring.
