The Race Master is the ultimate tactical compass for competitive sailors, providing critical heading and wind shift information in real time. Its dual two-tier displays, angled for viewing, let you see the readouts while sailing on either tack without having to swap sides. The top row shows your boat’s heading, while the bottom row indicates how many degrees above or below the mean course you are (lift or header) – immediately telling you whether to hold your course or tack. The Race Master also enables you to quickly determine which end of the start line is favored and to sail the shortest distance to the windward mark. When sailing downwind, it shows how far off dead downwind you are and when you should gybe for optimal VMG to the leeward mark.
With its integrated race timer, wind shift and line bias indicators, the Race Master packs numerous functions into one compact instrument that runs entirely on solar power. It is fully waterproof and tough enough for demanding racing conditions. For even greater versatility, the unit can integrate with other wireless systems – for example, connecting to a hull transmitter to display speed and depth, or being controlled remotely via the T113, giving you the freedom to adjust the display from anywhere on the boat.
- Ideal for tactical racing and club regattas – provides instant “lift” and “header” information to help you make the right tacking decisions under race conditions.
- Suitable for keelboats and sport one-design classes – mounting the Race Master on the deck or mast allows crew on small boats (J/80, Melges 24, etc.) to easily see the heading data from either side of the boat.
- Recommended for race starts and shifty winds – clear indicators of favored start line end and wind shifts give you a competitive edge at the start and on the beat to the mark.
- Excellent tool for training and coaching – with its visual wind shift bar and easy-to-read displays, the Race Master helps new racers learn to detect wind changes and course deviations.
