Raymarine Quantum 2 Q24D Doppler CHIRP Radome (No Cable Included)

Code:
E70498

Features

  • Radar:
    Quantum Doppler

The Raymarine Quantum 2 Q24D is the second-generation Quantum radome adding Doppler radar for intelligent collision avoidance. This 18″ dome uses CHIRP pulse compression and Doppler processing to color-highlight moving targets in red/green (incoming/outgoing) and deliver instant awareness in busy waters. Note: This item ships without cables – ideal for upgrades where existing cables can be reused or when cables are purchased separately as needed.

  • 18″ Quantum 2 Doppler radome – 20W solid-state, 24 nm range, 6 m minimum; automatically color-codes moving objects for safer navigation
  • Doppler technology highlights dangerous targets (approaching) in red and safe ones (going away) in green in real time, simplifying hazard recognition in heavy traffic
  • Enhanced MARPA/ARPA – automatic tracking of multiple moving targets (up to 25) + manual MARPA mode for selected targets (uses tech trusted by the US Coast Guard)
  • Instant start with no warm-up; fast 60 RPM scanning for immediate picture updates and “True Trails” target history (moving targets leave wakes on screen)
  • Lightweight, energy-efficient design; supports Wi-Fi and wired (Ethernet) connectivity; IPX6 weatherproof – ideal for sailboats, RIBs, and powerboats needing top-tier radar safety
Price: €2,97112 581101лв.

The Raymarine Quantum 2 Q24D brings a new level of situational awareness by using the Doppler effect – a technology that makes a radical difference in how radar contacts are interpreted. With Quantum 2, you’ll immediately see which targets are coming towards you and which are moving away, thanks to their being colored differently on the display (red for approaching, green for receding). This enhancement greatly simplifies risk assessment, especially when you’re in busy areas with multiple moving boats – the “threats” pop out on the screen at a glance.

Quantum 2 retains the CHIRP pulse compression of the original Quantum, so you get the same excellent short- and long-range resolution, ~6 m minimum range and 24 nm maximum. But the added Doppler processing also brings automatic moving target tracking. The radar intelligently identifies moving objects around you and can begin tracking their courses and speeds automatically (so-called ARPA tracking). Raymarine notes that Quantum 2 uses the same tracking technology relied on by the United States Coast Guard, which speaks to its reliability and precision.

Practically, this means that without any input from you, the radar will mark and track dozens of targets (up to 25 automatically, per specs) around your vessel. If any of them pose a risk (for example, one rapidly closing in), you’ll see it highlighted in red and can take action accordingly. Besides the automatic mode, of course, there’s also classic MARPA: you can manually select specific echo targets and get information on their movement (speed, heading, CPA, etc.), useful for keeping tabs on a particular vessel.

The Quantum 2 Q24D is fully compatible with current Raymarine multi-function displays (LightHouse 3 and later). It can connect via Wi-Fi or wired (RayNet Ethernet), depending on your preference and setup. Note that this specific SKU (E70498) does not include cables – it’s intended for scenarios where you’re upgrading from an existing Quantum or other Raymarine radar and already have cabling in place (an adapter can allow use of old cables), or if you want to purchase a specific length of cables separately (like 10m or 15m) to suit your boat. This provides flexibility and avoids redundant hardware.

In operation, the user interface of Quantum 2 integrates features like “True Trails” – moving objects can be set to leave a wake (trail) on the radar display, showing where they’ve been and where they’re heading, which further eases understanding the situation. When you’re at anchor or moving slowly, Quantum 2 also has a “stabilized” mode (requires additional sensor like an EV-1 or AR200) to eliminate the effect of your own vessel’s turning on the picture, so the radar echoes remain fixed overlaid on the chart – extremely valuable for spatial orientation.

Ideal use: The Quantum 2 Q24D is perfect for anyone operating in heavy traffic or low visibility – for example, coastal shipping lanes, busy harbors, or popular inland waterways. Sailing yachts will appreciate the low power draw (similar to Quantum – ~17-20W) and light weight, but with a significantly improved ability to avoid collisions. High-speed motorboats and RIBs that often run among many other fast boats will also find the Doppler highlighting invaluable for making quick decisions. With Quantum 2, as soon as you weigh anchor, the radar wakes up instantly with no warm-up and starts “seeing” everything around – day or night – with a level of detail and warning cues that was previously only available on much more expensive systems.
