The Raymarine Magnum 4kW radar with a 6-foot open array antenna is designed to deliver even greater clarity and range performance by leveraging a longer antenna array while maintaining the same 4kW power output. Although the maximum range remains 72 nm for the 4kW Magnum series, the 6ft antenna significantly enhances target resolution and detection confidence at long distances. With an approximate 1.15° horizontal beamwidth (compared to ~1.85° on the 4ft model), the 6ft Magnum can distinguish targets that are nearly on top of each other – an invaluable asset when scanning crowded waterways or identifying small contacts at the edge of the radar’s range. Distant shorelines and weather cells are depicted with sharper definition, providing the captain with a clearer picture of what lies ahead.
T70410 arrives as a comprehensive kit including the 6-foot open array scanner, the 4kW pedestal (transceiver) with the VCM100 power control module, and a 15 m RayNet cable for network connection. Installation and setup mirror that of its 4ft counterpart, and it carries forward the entire suite of Raymarine’s advanced radar features. You get Bird Mode for automatically tuning the radar to spot flocks of birds up to 10 nm away, helping you find fishing hotspots with ease. The Magnum’s robust MARPA target tracking and True Trails history are fully present as well, allowing you to automatically track dozens of targets and see the trails of moving vessels drawn right on the radar screen for instant interpretation of their courses. These features greatly aid in collision avoidance and traffic monitoring, giving you ample time to react to potential dangers.
The Magnum 4kW with 6ft array is tailored for boaters who operate in demanding conditions or open waters and want the best possible resolution without stepping up to a 12kW system. It’s an excellent fit for larger cruising yachts, offshore sportfishing boats, and even commercial vessels where the radar arch can accommodate the longer antenna. The extended array excels at picking up weak or distant targets – from squalls on the horizon to small buoys or kayaks at surprising distances – and it maintains better performance in rain clutter due to the higher gain of the antenna. Seamless integration is ensured: the unit networks via RayNet/SeaTalkHS and works flawlessly with Raymarine’s latest Axiom and Axiom Pro MFDs, as well as other LightHouse 3 displays. It’s also backward compatible with many legacy MFDs (LightHouse II-based systems), so upgrading to this radar can be done without overhauling your entire electronics suite. Built with the same rugged construction and trusted magnetron technology, the Magnum 4kW/6ft radar provides mariners with a powerful tool for safe navigation, long-range awareness, and successful offshore adventures, all while retaining a relatively compact and efficient form factor for its class.
