The R70374 CPT-DVS is a dual-channel CHIRP transom transducer that combines two sonar elements in one compact unit. The first element is an ultra-wide DownVision beam (approximately 1.4° fore-aft) that produces photo-realistic images of underwater structure in real time. This fan-shaped beam provides an exceptionally broad view beneath the boat, allowing anglers to see bottom contours, vegetation, and structure with high fidelity – much like a high-frequency “X-ray” of the water column. The second element is a conical CHIRP fish-finding sonar with a narrower beam, intended for traditional fish target detection and precise depth measurement. Together, these two channels give a complete picture: DownVision™ for structural detail and conventional sonar for clear identification of fish and depth.
The CPT-DVS operates across CHIRP frequency bands, meaning it sweeps through a range of frequencies rather than a single frequency – resulting in improved resolution and reduced noise. The DownVision channel uses very high frequencies (~320–380 kHz typical) to achieve finely detailed bottom imaging, with a maximum depth around 600 feet (183 m) under ideal conditions. The fish-targeting channel runs at a lower CHIRP frequency (~170–230 kHz), enabling fish detection and depth capability down to approximately 900 feet (275 m). Both channels include a built-in water temperature sensor, feeding real-time temperature data to your display for environmental insight and fish pattern analysis.
Compatibility & Installation: This transducer is expressly designed for the second-generation Raymarine Dragonfly units – namely Dragonfly-4DVS, 5DVS, 4PRO, and 5PRO models. It plugs directly into these devices with no adapter required. The attached cable is 6 meters (19.7 ft) long, providing ample length for mounting on most small to mid-sized boats. The R70374 comes with a transom bracket for straightforward installation – it secures firmly to the transom to hold the transducer at the correct angle in the water. When mounting, follow the manufacturer’s guidelines for height and distance from the engine to minimize turbulence and signal interference. If you intend to use the CPT-DVS with older first-generation Dragonfly units (5.7″ or 7″ models), an adapter cable (A80331) is available – this is necessary because those earlier models use a different connector and will not recognize the newer transducer without it.
Recommended Use: The CPT-DVS is ideal for anglers who want detailed 2D structure scanning plus traditional sonar in one transducer. It is especially valuable for freshwater fishing in lakes and rivers, as well as coastal inshore fishing where depths typically stay within 180 m (600 ft). The DownVision™ channel helps pinpoint submerged timber, rock piles, wrecks, and bait schools, while the CHIRP fish-finding channel clearly shows individual fish and bottom terrain directly beneath the boat. Boats up to about 20–23 feet (6–7 m) – commonly used for bass, pike, walleye, or inshore saltwater fishing – will benefit greatly from this transducer’s capabilities. Thanks to its modest size and weight, the CPT-DVS won’t burden the transom and can perform at speeds up to ~30 knots, though for the best DownVision imagery lower speeds (under 10–15 knots) are recommended. With Raymarine’s 2-year warranty, you can trust in the durability and longevity of this investment in your fishing electronics.
