The R70373 CPT-DV is a single-element CHIRP transducer optimized solely for DownVision™ sonar imaging. It emits an ultra-wide fan-shaped beam at high frequency to scan underwater structure and bottom with exceptional clarity and resolution. The DownVision channel provides photo-like images – you can distinctly tell hard bottom from soft, identify structures such as branches, rocks, or wrecks, and even discern schools of baitfish in the water column. Utilizing CHIRP technology, the transducer sweeps across a wide frequency band for maximum detail and minimal noise. The maximum effective depth for the CPT-DV to render quality images is about 600 feet (183 m), covering the needs of most freshwater bodies and inshore fishing grounds.
Unlike the CPT-DVS model, CPT-DV does not include a second conical fish-finding element – it is dedicated entirely to structural scanning. This makes it an excellent choice for users who already have another source of traditional sonar, or whose primary focus is obtaining detailed bottom imagery. Even though it lacks a “fish” channel, the CPT-DV still accurately measures depth below the boat and relays that information to your display, along with data from its built-in temperature sensor. In practice, this means anglers get both a visual representation of structure and numeric depth and temperature readouts – a valuable combination when searching for fish that relate to specific depths or temperature layers.
Compatibility & Installation: The CPT-DV (R70373) is designed to work directly with Raymarine Dragonfly-4DV, Dragonfly-5DV units, as well as the Wi-Fish wireless sonar module. These devices support only the DownVision channel, making the CPT-DV the perfect companion for them. The transducer plugs straight into the aforementioned displays using the standard 4-meter cable provided. It mounts on the transom with the included bracket – installation is similar to other Raymarine transom transducers. Given the relatively short cable (4 m), the CPT-DV is best suited for small boats where the distance from the transom to the display unit is not great (for example, bass boats, jon boats, RIBs, etc.). If additional length is required, Raymarine offers a 4 m extension cable (A80312) to extend the reach up to 8 m.
Recommended Use: This DownVision transducer is perfect for anglers who want to closely study bottom structure – for instance, bass anglers on lakes, where knowing the location of submerged cover (stumps, brush piles) is crucial, or pike and walleye fishermen targeting fish lurking around drop-offs and ledges. In saltwater, the CPT-DV is useful for shallow coastal fishing – revealing reefs, wrecks, and bait schools in inshore waters. Since it does not provide a conventional sonar channel, it’s primarily recommended for fishing depths up to around 50–60 m, where the DownVision image is most effective and there’s less need for a separate deep-water channel. For owners of Dragonfly-4DV/5DV units, this transducer restores full functionality to the system if the original was damaged, delivering factory-spec image quality. With Raymarine’s 2-year warranty, the CPT-DV is built to provide long-lasting, reliable performance as part of your sonar setup.
