The A80351 CPT-100DVS is a dual-element CHIRP transom transducer that combines a DownVision channel and a conventional sonar channel in one device. Originally developed for the Raymarine CP100 sonar module, this transducer allows users of a-Series and eS-Series multifunction displays to enjoy high-quality structure scanning alongside traditional 2D fishfinding. The CHIRP DownVision channel operates in the ~320 kHz range and generates detailed images of bottom structure – reaching depths of around 600 feet (183 m). With it, anglers can easily distinguish hard from soft bottom, see submerged timber, vegetation, and other cover in remarkable detail. The CHIRP “fishfinder” channel operates at a lower frequency (~170 kHz), providing reliable fish detection and clear bottom tracking down to about 900 feet (275 m). This channel paints the classic arching fish echoes and complements the DownVision view by providing traditional sonar returns for fish directly beneath the boat.
The CPT-100DVS emits a wide ~60° DownVision fan beam (side-to-side) that covers a generous area and “slice” of the bottom with each pass. Its fore-aft profile is very thin (~1.4°), which concentrates energy for an extremely detailed portrayal of structure. At the same time, the conical fishfinder beam is about 25° wide – broad enough to cover a good zone under the boat, yet focused enough for concentrated fish targeting. The built-in temperature sensor continuously feeds water temperature data to your system, and the transducer also provides precise depth readings, which can be used for depth alarms or charting the bottom profile.
Compatibility & Flexibility: The CPT-100DVS is designed for direct plug-in to the CP100 CHIRP DownVision module by Raymarine, which in turn interfaces with numerous MFD models (a-Series 7″/9″, eSx8 displays, etc.). In practice, if you have an a78, a98, eS78, eS98, eS128 or similar model with a CP100, this transducer is plug-and-play. Moreover, Raymarine provides optional adapter cables that enable the CPT-100DVS to be used with other systems: for example, cable A80518 for Dragonfly 4/5/7 units, A80559 for Element HV, and A80490 for Axiom RV/Axiom Pro RVX. This means that if you upgrade your boat to a newer Raymarine setup, you can potentially carry this transducer over using the appropriate adapter – it will function as a high-CHIRP fishfinder transducer (bearing in mind it won’t provide HyperVision or 3D imaging). The transducer’s cable is 10 m (33 ft) long, providing sufficient length for most small and mid-size boat installations. The transom mounting is standard – it comes with a plastic bracket (similar to that of the original CPT-100 Dragonfly transducer) and is secured to the transom with a few screws. For optimal performance, install the transducer so that it sits just below the hull when underway and mount it on the starboard side of the engine (when looking from the rear) to minimize prop turbulence.
Recommended Use: Raymarine’s CPT-100DVS remains extremely popular among enthusiasts of freshwater predator fishing (bass, pike, walleye, etc.), as well as for coastal inshore saltwater fishing in relatively moderate depths. Its DownVision capability allows you to quickly identify hotspots – a submerged tree, a rock pile, or an artificial reef – while the conical sonar clearly shows if fish are present around those structures. With a maximum fishfinder range of ~275 m, the transducer can cover deeper reservoirs and lakes, though its core strength lies in the 0–100 m range where the resolution is highest. For owners of older Raymarine systems who aren’t ready to move to the latest Axiom/Element series, the CPT-100DVS offers modern CHIRP capabilities at an affordable price. Boats in the 15–23 ft range (4.5–7 m) – typical fishing boats and RIBs – will benefit the most from this unit. It doesn’t put much drag on the transom, is easy to kick up or remove when trailering the boat, and provides reliable readings at speeds up to ~20–25 knots (beyond which a temporary loss of bottom lock can occur, as is common with most structure-scanning sonars). With a 2-year warranty and proven performance in the field, the CPT-100DVS continues to be a go-to solution for many anglers seeking a versatile transducer.
