The CPT-S 0° Plastic Thru-Hull Transducer is an economical and lightweight option for adding CHIRP sonar capabilities to boats with flat or nearly flat hull sections. With a zero-degree internal tilt, this model mirrors the performance of the bronze 0° transducer but comes in a urethane plastic form factor. It’s designed to mount on horizontal surfaces of the hull (roughly 0°–5° deadrise), such as the flat keel area or a level transom step. In such placements, the transducer’s 25° cone-shaped beam projects straight down, providing ideal coverage and accurate echoes directly beneath the vessel.

Thanks to CHIRP technology, the CPT-S 0° delivers much improved target definition and noise rejection compared to old-school single-frequency sounders. It can read depths up to about 275 m (900 ft), which covers most inshore and many offshore needs – from shallow estuaries to deeper coastal trenches. This model measures water temperature as well, feeding you environmental data along with depth (note: some basic spec sheets emphasize depth-only, but the unit does include a temperature sensor for your convenience).

Key features:

  • Easy Installation on Flat Hulls: The 0° plastic transducer is perfect for boats with flat-bottom areas, such as certain skiffs, jon boats, pontoon boats, or flat keel sections on larger yachts. Since the element has no tilt, installation is straightforward – drill the hole, bed the transducer with sealant, and secure it. It’s an uncomplicated solution for gaining CHIRP sonar on hull forms that don’t require tilt compensation.
  • Wide 25° Sonar Beam: Like other CPT-S units, the 0° version uses a 25° beam width to scan a broad swath beneath your boat. This wide coverage is forgiving in choppy conditions or during turns, as it continues to pick up bottom and fish even if the boat pitches or rolls. Despite the wide beam, CHIRP processing ensures the details remain sharp – making it easier to spot fish arches and bottom structure.
  • High-Speed, Low-Drag Design: The flush, low-profile installation means this transducer creates very little drag or turbulence. As a result, it maintains a strong bottom lock and clear readings even when the boat is moving at speed. For smaller fast boats, this is a major advantage over transom transducers, which can sometimes lose contact with the water or introduce bubbles at high speeds.
  • Durable & Hull-Friendly: The plastic (urethane) construction is robust and inert. It won’t cause galvanic issues on metal hulls, and it’s resilient against impact and marine growth. The transducer face can be cleaned periodically to ensure peak performance, but otherwise it requires minimal upkeep. It’s built to last through seasons of boating and fishing.
  • Flexible System Compatibility: The CPT-S 0° plastic model works seamlessly with Raymarine’s modern fishfinder and combo units that support high CHIRP sonar. Plug it into an Element S or a compatible Axiom display’s 9-pin port, and you’re ready to fish. If you need to connect it to an MFD with a different port type (like Axiom Pro’s 25-pin), an adapter like the A80490 makes it possible. This means the transducer can follow you to new electronics down the road – you won’t have to swap it out if you upgrade your display, preserving your investment.

In conclusion, the Raymarine CPT-S 0° Plastic Thru-Hull Transducer offers boaters a simple, reliable, and cost-effective way to get CHIRP sonar performance. It’s an excellent fit for smaller vessels or applications where a through-hull install is preferred over a transom mount. With this transducer, you gain the benefits of modern CHIRP fishfinding – clearer detail, better fish targeting, and solid depth tracking – all in a compact package that’s easy to install and maintain. Whether you’re navigating shallow rivers or scouting fishing spots on a lake, the CPT-S 0° will be your trustworthy underwater eye.
