The Raymarine B117 D transducer (Part # E66014) is a low-profile bronze thru-hull depth sensor that has become a go-to choice for boats with minimal hull deadrise (up to ~7°). Its flush-mount design means it sits nearly level with the hull and does not require a fairing block, resulting in very low drag and undisturbed water flow across the transducer face. This design is ideal for powerboats and sailboats alike – especially trailerable boats – because there’s no protruding hardware to snag or create turbulence. The low-profile bronze housing ensures smooth performance through the water and eliminates issues when loading the boat on a trailer.

With a 600 W power rating and dual-frequency operation (50 kHz and 200 kHz), the B117 D provides reliable depth measurement over a wide range of conditions. At 50 kHz (low frequency), it can reach depths of up to approximately 1,200 ft (around 365 m) with a broad ~45° beam, excellent for scanning large swaths of the bottom and detecting structure or schools of fish in deeper waters. At 200 kHz (high frequency), it achieves depth penetration up to about 700 ft (213 m) and uses a narrower ~12° beam for high-resolution detail and improved target separation in shallower areas. This dual-frequency capability gives boaters the flexibility to get both a wide coverage for general bottom tracking and a focused, detailed view when needed – ensuring confidence whether navigating shallow channels or probing deeper fishing spots.

Built with a solid bronze housing, the B117 D is made for the harsh marine environment, offering durability and resistance to corrosion. It is designed for installation on fiberglass or wooden hulls (not recommended for metal hulls, as metal can interfere with sonar signals). The transducer is a depth-only instrument (no temperature sensor), focusing on accurate depth tracking which simplifies the system and improves reliability for its primary function. If water temperature data is required, it can be obtained via a separate sensor or an alternative transducer model that includes a temp sensor.

The Raymarine B117 D comes with an attached 30 ft (9 m) cable and a standard 7-pin plug for plug-and-play connection to compatible Raymarine fishfinder/sounder modules – no adapter cable needed. It is fully supported by the Raymarine DSM30 and DSM300 digital sounder modules, and by extension works with the CP300 and CP370 sonar systems (which use the same connector standard). This makes it easy to integrate with many classic Raymarine multifunction displays and sonar setups (for example, earlier C-Series/E-Series displays using DSM modules, or the CP370 with modern displays). Thanks to its through-hull mounting, the B117 D transducer can maintain solid bottom readings at speed, out-performing transom-mount transducers when the boat is on plane. Properly installed in a disturbance-free location, it will continue to track bottom and display accurate depth even at higher cruising speeds.

For long-term optimal performance, the transducer face can be treated with a marine growth inhibitor or anti-fouling paint specifically made for transducers, keeping it clean and effective. The Raymarine B117 D is backed by a 2-year warranty. Overall, this bronze thru-hull transducer provides boaters and anglers with accurate depth information vital for safe navigation and productive fishing, all while minimizing impact on the boat’s performance.
