End Mounting Panel for Rocker Switches – Modular End Cap (SF-BS1)

Code:
SF-BS1

Left/right end module for modular rocker switch panels. Used as the finishing frame on each side of a bank of switches, providing rigidity and a professional look:

  • Designed for standard marine rocker switches (Carling type) – forms the end caps of a multi-switch panel
  • Snaps securely to a middle panel or switch – creates a stable, linked row of switches
  • Nearly invisible seam between modules – looks like one continuous factory panel
  • Eases installation – wide flange covers cutout edges, no need for extremely precise individual holes
  • Durable, UV-resistant plastic – withstands marine conditions without warping or fading

The SF-BS1 is an end panel module used in the modular rocker switch mounting system to give a finished look and structural strength to the ends of a multi-switch cluster. In other words, if you are assembling a panel with several rocker switches side by side, you will need two SF-BS1 end panels – one for the left end and one for the right end of the group. They serve as end caps that close off the row of switches and cover the exposed edges of the dashboard cutout.

Construction & Assembly: Each SF-BS1 end panel has a set of toothed clips/tabs designed to snap onto the corresponding notches of the neighboring module. When building a panel with multiple switches, you would start by attaching an end panel on one side, then add the required number of middle panels (SF-BS2) between each switch, and finish with another SF-BS1 end panel on the opposite side. The end panel “locks in” the configuration by providing a vertical end wall and further reinforcing the entire assembly.

Stability & Appearance: One of the main advantages of using SF-BS1 is that it adds stability to the entire switch array. The plastic frame holds the switches in alignment and prevents them from shifting when pressed. All the modules (end and middle) fit together so tightly that they form practically a solid strip – no gaps or wiggle. The seam between an SF-BS1 and the adjacent panel is nearly invisible, creating the impression of one continuous panel that was made as a single unit. This greatly improves the aesthetics: the finished switch bank looks professionally built rather than assembled from individual pieces.

Easier Dashboard Installation: By using these end panels (and corresponding middle panels), installing multiple switches becomes simpler. Instead of cutting a complex shape or many separate holes for each switch, you can often cut one rectangular hole for the entire group – as wide as the row of switches and as tall as a single switch. The wide flanges of the SF-BS1 panels on the left and right will cover the edges of the cutout, and the middle panels and switches fill the middle, leaving no rough edges visible. This not only saves time in fabricating the dash but also ensures a better final appearance.

Compatibility: The SF-BS1 is compatible with most standard marine rocker switches – these are the rectangular toggle switches widely used on boats (usually around 2″ x 1″ face size). It’s part of the Sunfine (BS-series) modular system, meaning it fits perfectly with the SF-BS2 middle panel and other accessories like the SF-BS7 removal tool or SF-BS6 blank inserts. The material is a high-quality polymer that resists UV rays and saltwater. This ensures the panels won’t crack or fade even with prolonged exposure to sunlight and marine environments. Temperature changes and vibrations are also not an issue – the modules remain secure and keep their shape over time.

Conclusion: With the SF-BS1 end panel, your DIY switch panel will have a finished, factory look and added robustness. It’s a small component that makes a big difference – the switch assembly becomes more rigid, and visually, much more pleasing. Whether you’re building a new electrical console for your boat or adding switches to an existing one, using the modular panels with end pieces will significantly enhance the quality of the final result.
