This green 112.5° starboard navigation light is part of the compact Osculati Utility88 series, designed specifically for smaller and medium-sized vessels. Thanks to its optimized design, it offers reliability and visibility comparable to larger models but in a smaller, energy-saving form factor. It is suitable for boats up to 12 meters, providing the required green starboard-side signal during night navigation.
The light’s housing is white, made from high-quality polymer reinforced for impact and UV resistance. This ensures the device can withstand harsh conditions – bright sun, saltwater, sudden shocks – without damage or degradation in appearance. The green lens is crafted from clear plexiglass (PMMA) with high durability, which provides a bright and clean projection of light in the specified sector. Inside the housing is a small yet powerful 5W halogen bulb, whose light is amplified by an integrated reflector. A key aspect of the Utility88 series is that this 5W bulb offers low power consumption and minimal heat output, making it ideal for continuous use on smaller vessels with limited electrical resources.
The light is completely waterproof – gaskets and seals prevent any ingress of water or moisture into the electrical parts. This, combined with the quality materials, allows it to operate reliably even in heavy rain or strong waves where seawater frequently splashes the deck. The product has been tested and certified (by RINA) according to COLREG72 for boats up to 12 m, meaning that as part of your navigation system it meets all requirements – the green light covers 112.5° and is visible at a minimum of 1 NM. This ensures that other vessels will notice your starboard side in time and can take the correct actions to avoid collision.
Mounting the unit is as straightforward as possible: it’s intended for a vertical surface and attaches with two small screws (included in the package). You can mount it on the hull (for example, on the starboard bow area) or on a vertical wall of the superstructure; its compact dimensions allow installation even in tight spots. Connecting it to the electrical system (12 V) is simple via a two-wire lead. Since the bulb is low wattage, there’s no need for thick wiring or heavy-duty fuses – the standard electrical setup of a small boat is more than sufficient. The 12V/5W bulb is included and factory-installed, so no additional purchases are required to get up and running. For future maintenance, its replacement is also easy – you can access the socket quickly by removing the front cover. If desired, you can swap it out for an LED bulb with the same fitting, but keep in mind the original halogen is certified for COLREG compliance.
Using this green side light greatly contributes to your boating safety. Despite its compact size, it emits a bright signal that clearly marks the starboard side of your vessel. It’s recommended for installation on any small to medium boat – from little motorboats and fishing skiffs to sailing yachts – that ventures out at night or in reduced visibility. Pair it with the matching red port-side navigation light from the same Utility88 range, as well as the other required lights (white 135° stern light and, if needed, the 225° masthead light), to ensure full visibility and compliance with maritime rules.
- Compact and efficient solution for the starboard side – ideal for small boats where space is at a premium but safety remains paramount
- Provides a bright green light visible over 1 NM despite the minimal 5W power draw – preserves battery life without sacrificing visibility
- Rugged housing withstands bumps and vibrations (such as those from high-speed travel or waves), which is crucial for fast powerboats and RIBs
- Requires virtually no special maintenance – durable materials ensure the light will work season after season with minimal care
- Perfectly complements other Osculati Utility88 lights, giving a uniform look and compatible performance across all lights on your boat
