Usage: the stern light is mandatory when navigating at night or in twilight – it marks the rear of your boat and informs other captains that they are looking at your vessel from behind. In combination with the side lights (red and green) and, for motor vessels, the forward masthead (225°) light, it completes the set of navigation lights on board. It is recommended to switch it on at dusk, during night, or in reduced visibility.
