Oar Stop Collar Ø35mm – 85.7 mm PVC Oar Stopper Ring

Code:
00732-35

A round oar stop collar with an inner diameter of Ø35 mm and a length of 85.7 mm, made of grey PVC plastic. This collar prevents the oar from sliding too far through the oarlock while rowing, by fixing the oar’s position. It installs easily on the oar shaft and ensures more efficient and safe rowing.

  • Size: Inner diameter 35 mm (for oars Ø35 mm), collar length ~85.7 mm – provides a broad contact area for support
  • Material: Durable PVC (light grey) – impact-resistant, UV-stable, and saltwater-proof; lightweight and non-corroding
  • Function: Acts as a stopper – keeps the oar at the optimal position in the oarlock so it doesn’t slide out or in too far
  • Installation: Slides onto the oar shaft; can be secured with a small screw or adhesive to prevent slipping
  • Application: Suitable for boat, dinghy, and canoe oars around 35 mm diameter – an ideal spare accessory if original oar stop rings are lost or worn
Price: €276 540лв.

This oar stop collar (Ø35 mm) is a small but extremely important part of your boat’s rowing setup. Its role is to limit the movement of the oar through the oarlock (the bracket in which the oar rests while rowing). Without a stopper collar, there’s a risk of the oar sliding too far in or even popping out of the oarlock – especially with inexperienced rowers or in rough conditions. By installing this collar at the right position on your oar, you ensure the oar is always held at the correct spot – the blade stays at the optimal distance from the boat, and the handle won’t over-shoot into the boat.

Construction & Material: The stop is made of hard PVC – a material that offers strength and light weight. The 35 mm inner diameter is precise for standard oars of that thickness, ensuring a snug fit. The length of 85.7 mm means the collar is relatively wide – this allows it to distribute the pressure from the oarlock over a larger area of the oar, preventing localized wear. The light grey color matches most boat accessories and often the oars themselves, giving a cohesive look.

Installation & Fixation: To install the stop, you need access to the end of the oar (you might have to remove the T-handle or blade, depending on the oar’s construction – many oars have removable ends). Once you have the end free, simply slide the collar onto the oar shaft to the desired position. The correct position is usually determined such that when the oar is in the oarlock, the collar butts against the oarlock on the inner side, with the oar blade at the proper immersion depth in the water. Once you’ve positioned it, secure the collar – the simplest method is using a small stainless screw through a provided pilot hole (if one exists on the collar) or by drilling a tiny hole through the collar and oar shaft and inserting a screw. If you prefer not to drill, you can wrap some waterproof tape on the oar shaft on both sides of the collar or apply a bit of adhesive on the inside of the collar before sliding it in place.

  • Practical Benefits: With a properly placed oar stop, rowing becomes more efficient because every stroke is transferred optimally rather than being lost in the oar shifting back and forth through the oarlock. It also increases safety – the oar won’t accidentally slip out of the boat if you let go for a moment, since the stop will catch on the oarlock. This is especially important in rough water or for novice rowers, where mistakes are common. The stop additionally protects the boat’s gunwale from direct contact with your hands or the thick part of the oar, by acting as a buffer between the oar and oarlock.
  • Versatility: While this model is Ø35 mm (fitting a specific oar size), such stopper rings are available in various diameters. If your boat has thinner oars (say 30 mm or 25 mm), it’s recommended to use the appropriately sized collars for them. They are inexpensive and easy to install but greatly improve the rowing experience. Our store offers multiple sizes – the Ø35 mm version is among the largest, typical for heavy-duty oars.
  • Maintenance: The collar itself requires no maintenance – once fixed in place, it can remain there permanently. The PVC material won’t rust or rot. Periodically check that the set screw (if you used one) hasn’t loosened. If you change oars, the stop can be carefully removed and transferred to the new oar, as long as it’s the same diameter.
